I have fallen in love 😍 with a tent . The cabanon biscaya. Since it will take forever to save up for a new one I find myself scouring sites for secondhand ones .
I have a few questions from current owners before I end up buying a second hand one.
Weight - how heavy are the bags I am assuming it's 3 bags (groundsheet, tent, poles)
I know the whole thing is 44kg which is far too heavy for me to lift in one go.
At the moment I have a berghaus air 4, I can lift in and out of the car and drag it upstairs to the back bedroom for storage (19kg)
How easy is it to pitch alone ? Although we are a family of 3 we all have fixed holidays and 9/10 they don't match up. So mostly it will be myself and a 6 year old.
Anyone have any alternatives to the biscaya if it does turn out to be too heavy / too difficult to put up. We are limited on storage so can't really justify keeping the berghaus and buying a cabanon.
Thank you

There are some reviews here. Not sure which model you've fallen in love with but they may be helpful. I think one or two people on here have owned them so with luck one of them will see your post and be able to be more helpful.
That video is of Cabanon employees, pitching the Biscaya at their premises in Dunkerque.
We've owned several Biscaya tents of varying sizes over the years, but I've never crawled along the ground whilst zipping the flysheet to the groundsheet! 😉 Mind you, I've never worn high-heeled boots when pitching, either 🤣.

Yey I have watched the video very entertaining. Especially the look of death That the lady gives the man at one point.
It was more the weight issue really pit pointless having a nice tent if can't even lift it into the car to go anywhere

The weight given for the 440 is actually 54.6kg. But yes, it can be split down to 4 bags: flysheet, poles, groundsheet and inner.
Get the optional sun canopy if you can, as it makes a huge difference to the outdoor living space but takes up little more pitch room as it protrudes only a little over the side wings.
I've pitched a 370 by myself but, realistically, you need 2 people to pitch the 440.
They're lovely tents, when they're up: rock solid, dependable and comfortable to live in. It's a biggish tent but has no side or rear guys so will fit on smaller pitches. With them being all-season polyester (feels like stiff canvas) they're easier to care for than cotton or polycotton tents.
Cabanon did make a cotton canvas Biscaya 370 but only in 2007/08. I'm surprised Francais hasn't surfaced in response to your question, since he has this model and seems to like it a lot.
I have decided to go to the show at the nec in Feb and hopefully see one in person. Still find myself searching auction sites for a used one though.
Thank you yo everyone who replied.
Think I am happy with the weight distribution.
It's the two person pitching with the 440 now which is bugging me. Realistically the 440 is the one I would end up with simply because they sold more.
We camp 3 trips a year 2 of those trips it's myself and a 5 year old and I am 5'2" .
We will try and see one in the flesh but I think it may be a take the plunge and see of I can put up alone.
Thanks again for replying it was very helpful.

Thanks for asking.
I think the biscaya may be too dificult on my own. We went to the show and saw a malawi trailer tent. Very nice, also very expensive. The quality is amazing though.
In a couple of weeks we are off to Cornwall so will be stopping at attwools to have a look at the barbados.
We also saw a quest gobi tent at the nec a very good tent but just that bit too small, the barbados looks like a similar design but bigger.
So the search continues!
