Hi - I'm looking for advice on tents. Full disclosure, I know what I'm looking for is basically impossible but don't ask = don't get! I'm not a huge camping fan but my partner is and would basically sleep under a potato sack. We're compromising by going camping, but with an actually decent tent.
I'm looking for a tent that:
- Is relatively lightweight. We won't be doing any backpacking with the tent, but we don't drive so it needs to be at least partially carry-able in between bus, taxi & train journeys.
- Has standing room. Not necessarily throughout but at least in a porch/living area.
- Is not too difficult to sleep in - i.e. some kind of nightfall/blackout area would be great.
It doesn't have to be the world's hardiest windproof/stormproof structure or anything as I'll be booking into a hotel at the first sign of a drizzle lol, and I'm not bothered about pitching time. Happy to spend some ££ (ideally less than £1000) and would consider inflatable or pole options. I'd always prefer too much space to not enough. Any thoughts, opinions or just recommendations for places to look would be great :)
TIA!

You will be better off to go and view at your local big, or independent camping shops. This way you would get a better idea and see in the flesh what you are looking for.
ok so inflateable is out, due to the weight for carrying on public transport, 20kgs might not seem to bad until you start adding the rest of the gear. your also best off with a poled tent as that can be repaired en route very easily, even if it meant taping some sticks together!
without any idea of your location we cant tell you where to go and take a look at suitable tents, but stay away from amazon, supermarkets and single skin tents. you need to be looking for a minimum of 3000hh (hydrostatic head - waterproof level, higher the number the better!)
to save space, get some vacumme pack bags which will help condense your bedding/clothes meaning less awkward to get on public transport prepare for that in case you will have to carry your gear at some point, even if it means its wore case scenario.
your then going to have to get something for cooking on, and something to sit on and then to store food in
The Khyam Biker Plus is a bit heavier, St 9.1kg (plus extra for the optional groundsheet) but the poles are pre-attached, so quicker and easier to pitch.
Just remember it's all the other stuff you have to take which bulks things out (something to sit on, bed and bedding, something to cook on etc) so maybe worth checking out the backpacking section for tips?
I wonder if you could travel with a cart or fishing trolley, to make life a bit easier?

I've got one and love it - it's light and you can stand up in the living area, you can remove one bedroom to have a bigger living area so it's flexible
you do need the footprint as there isn't a floor in the middle section
+ 1 for the Vango Galaxy 300.
Don’t go for the 200 because there is minuscule difference in weight and packing dimensions.
Just 5.5 kg too BUT make sure you buy some crocodile tarp clips and guy lines to peg out the sides of the awning as they flap in and will allow water to puddle in if raining.
Discontinued I believe but can still be got on line.
