Hiya, had a few days using a Eurohike Tarp which was good in the rain, we were in tents but found it useful, could stay out under all conditions.
Problems is it's industrial blue, feels like a plastic bag etc...   and was looking for another kind of material.

Could someone recommend a better material that is not so synthetic and not crazy expensive? Polycotton rainproof can be £15/m ... too dear for me.

Any help would be great. Thanks.

Welcome to UKCS.

I bought a polycotton tarp from Obelink about 10 years ago, over 3m square, and it was about 50 GBP at the time.

However, that was before Brexit and they had an UK website etc., and it looks like the price has gone up quite a bit!

Have a look at this one listed on their NL site for consideration, even though it may be out of your budget and you will need to add shipping cost on top:

https://www.obelink.nl/hypercamp-tarp-wing-beige-tc.html

This one is a good price compared with other ones I have seen by Googling just a few minutes ago.

I am hanging on to mine as it is a great event shelter.

I don't think polycotton tarps come cheap is the bottom line!

I've been looking for tarps, and Decathlon have a few that may appeal to you, still PU coated polyester as your existing one, but in more muted colours, and not too wallet busting.

I also have an Obelink polycotton tarp - it's massive!

Post Brexit I think you also have to pay an import tax which is not included in the price or delivery cost because it is outside the control of the seller and paid direct to HMRC.

Some of the Bell Tent companies sell tarps that they call awnings e.g https://belltentboutique.co.uk/products/medium-canvas-awning

Millets are selling this - also massive - I take the TC on the close up of the label to mean TenCate - very high quality canvas. Extra 10% off at, brings the price down a bit. It looks good, IMO https://www.millets.co.uk/16231981/hi-gear-5-metre-tarp-16231981/?utm_source=Googl........

Re-enactment 100% cotton canvas tarp - comes without poles or guys, and is a bit pricey on delivery, but £44 https://www.amazon.co.uk/TARPAULIN-medival-canvas-history-Reenactment/dp/B00S9OUUFY

No guys or poles supplied with this tarp.

I would strongly advise getting some decent poles made out of steel or thick gauge aluminium tubes, as cheap ones made out of thin gauge aluminium would bend quite easily.

10T/Spreen used to do polycotton tarps...I have a 16 sq metre one: a lot of bell tent suppliers offer various cotton or polycotton tarps, such as Blacks of Greenock................
