...
Hi there tent campers , I was shocked to see that over the last few years no one has heard of 12Trio frame tents From Denmark .
They were a very popular tent during the 60s,70s,& 80s .
Because of their quality I thought that they would never die in popularity !! ,, They also became very popular with caravan owners too with the Trio Sport Awning range .
I cant even find any quantity of history about them , Although they must be one of the best Cotton Frame Tents ever made in Europe ...
Therefore I intend to take my as new 45 year old Trio Rio out touring .
By the way I have this special frame tent from NEW !!

I think you will find the lack of info quite a widespread situation with many things that existed and were popular before WWW became well established in early 1990's. It's almost like the world didn't exist before 1992 in many respects! Maybe because 'the internet' was predominantly a 'young' persons thing in it's early days, and they didn't relate to much before the 1980's!
I've got a 1960's PTC (Pneumatic Tent Company) Igloo tent that was given to me, which was the original 'Airbeam' tent, they seemed popular and quite commonplace if you look at campsite photos of the 1960's and '70's. I certainly used it in late 60's, 70's, and even into the 1990's, but because it's pre-WWW, there is not a lot of info considering how popular they were and how groundbreaking a concept, it took another 50 odd years before 'Airbeams' were 'reinvented' and popular again, but without a nod of acknowledgement to the PTC Igloo! I'm sure my Igloo is still in perfectly serviceable condition, although it hasn't ventured out of the loft in a few years now!
Of course frame tents, like my Igloo fell heavily out of favour when lighter weight synthetic fabric fibre poled tents became the norm, reckon my 2/3 berth one room canvas Igloo is heavier and a bulkier pack than my large 5 berth 3 room (bedrooms, living space, plus porch) synthetic fabric (even with it's steel poles!) Outwell of around 2010 vintage, so perhaps not surprising they don't show up much in modern camping discussions. The 'Retro' lovers may appreciate them, but TBH things have in some ways got better.
There are reviews for two Trio tents on the tent review section of this website. Perhaps you could add one on your tent to increase the total of information available.
I'm guessing from your user-name that you have an interest in photography, if so upload a few images with your review.
Due to their packed size and weight, canvas frame tents became unpopular in the 90's when lightweight synthetic came on the scene.
I had a couple of frame tents in the 70's and 80's, in my opinion they were far superior to modern synthetic tents but you really needed a car with a roof rack or trailer to carry them and of course both of these options are difficult with modern cars.

Could you please post pics if you can. We have inherited a vintage frame tent and are unsure of what it is due to no badging. Would love to know if its similar to yours
