Hi all

Has anyone bought anything on the Dutch eBay owned site Marktplaats?

I’ve seen a little tent I’m considering buying but post brexit no idea what kind of issues there are in terms of import tax, if any etc.

Seems PayPal can be used and the price is low enough to not be a massive risk. Of course the seller would have to be willing to post abroad, but just wondered if there were hidden taxes that may add a big chunk on?

Even non business shipments over 39 quid will need customs clearance & you will have to pay UK vat.

If you are still interested then get a quote from that link or others like DHL DPD etc. They can handle the whole thing & charge you accordingly. Best bet would be a camping trip to Holland & buy a tent there. That way you can bring it back as part of your gear.

I think so yes. I doubt if importing will be worthwhile. I guess buying would be no problem. You can use PayPal to pay internationally although their exchange rate is not as good as using a fee free card like Halifax Clarity for example. I’m sure seller would be happy enough to arrange shipment provided you paid.

Any well known international carrier will quote on their website. You would have to pay full amount before delivery.

Unfortunately what used to be so simple has now become probably not worth the effort & cost.

The shipping cost from the Netherlands to the UK are skyhigh.
In the past a send a couple of tents for 20 euro's with GLS , now its not possible anymore. Other companies are really expensive.

Thanks both, it sounds like this might not be worthwhile, shame as what I’m looking at is always in good supply in Holland but rare as hens teeth in the UK
