Hello,

I bought a Naturehike VIK 1 tent on eBay a couple of months ago. Used but near new. Turned out though, it didn't come with a groundsheet ("footprint" -- is that the same thing? think so). The tent seemed OK without it but I was worried about something in the ground poking through the bottom of the tent. I've searched Naturehike's site and the net about getting a groundsheet for it, tried contacting Naturehike and they don't reply, not found anywhere that's selling a Naturehike VIK 1 groundsheet. Any thoughts/ideas for getting one or a suitable alternative?

Thanks, Ben.

I think that what you're looking for is a footprint rather than a groundesheet.
Easiest/cheapest is to get a builders tarp and cut one out yourself to fit. Make sure that it doesn't protrude from the sides of the tent.

Builders tarp, any colour, you're not going to see it!

Cut or fold edges to be 100mm (4in) SMALLER than entire outline of tent, and none protrudes beyond tent in use, otherwise water wicks under tent and partly defeats purpose of footprint of keeping bottom of tent dry to facilitate dry/clean packing!

It's a backpacking tent, chances are there never was a footprint option for it, as intended to be as light as possible!

You may want to fit some eyelets to tarp (for pegging down with button head pegs) on corners to keep in place when erecting tent. Something like these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amtech-S4673-Sealing-Eyelets-Clear/dp/B013YPKMCS/ref=asc_........

Great, thanks both for your answers. I will do that, buy a tarp and cut it down.

No, it definitely comes with one. Eg see https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/nBsAAOSw7zlkF5Uf/s-l1600.jpghttps://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/nBsAAOSw7zlkF5Uf/s-l1600.jpg , it's in a bag which says "Mat for Vik 1". The YouTube vid I watched about putting it up had one. They put the poles in it, it had eyelets, first before putting the tent bit up. Initially, I thought the absence of the mat was going to be a real problem (because the poles went into it, on the vid I saw, for putting it up), but that wasn't the case thankfully, the poles also hook into the tent bit itself so it was fine with the mat.
