We've had our Icarus 500 since 2013, and last year it finally met it's match in a storm we got caught up in. Several pole segments have split and the middle wind tension strap ripped clean from the roof of the tent. I think it's had it's day, although admittedly I could replace the poles and keep it going.

I'm looking for a good replacement. I liked the Icarus, it packed away reasonably small, was a very easy to put up, had decent interior room for a rainy day and seems to have lasted very well.

Any recommendations? Thanks :)

If its the Vango they still make it so why not buy another?

Our last large tent was an Outwell Oakland XL, no longer made, but it was very similar to the Icarus. The Outwell Blackwood 5 is probably the latest version of it.

How about the Coleman Aspen 4L or other size?

I - very briefly - had one, but sold it as too big for my purposes but seemed a strong, well-made and sturdy tent. And I put it up solo.

Has a porch like the Icarus, roomy living area, and the bedrooms.

My niece had an Icarus but moved to a caravan (she still hankers for it!).

Like the Ford Escort - a classic no-frills model but onwe where all the parts worked so well together.
