Hello, I have bought a Gelert Quest 8 Person Tent!! As it is a tent that is still for sale in online stores....I stupidly thought that accessories were sold for it?
I am desperately looking for a side porch, a carpet and a footprint for it. Reasonably priced only, I'm afraid.
Please!? I would relish your thoughts and advice.
Tins x
I would really appreciate

Carpet and foot print help here. Google similar tent/ layout sizes to yours and see if you can buy them. Ok may be another brand but its a start. If you cannot get the foot print a tarp cut smaller than your tent will do.

Gelert got taken over by Sports Direct. Might be worth trying them

Welcome.

It's far from uncommon to find 'official' accessories for tents (and caravan awnings too) to be like hens teeth, even when the tent is a current model, and a bit of a lost cause when out of production!

All is not lost though, 'universal side porches' can be found, like this one (others may exist): https://www.blacks.co.uk/16006984/hi-gear-habitat-universal-tent-porch-16006984/21........ Downside is they are rarely a matching colourway if aesthetics is important to you.

Dedicated carpets can be substituted in a number of ways. 'Picnic blankets' are a popular choice for a non-fitted 'rug'. Foam interlocking tiles can be cut to form a wall to wall floor covering. And caravan awning 'carpets' are another way of DIY cut to fit floor covering.

Footprint is the really easy one and saving a 'fortune' on the genuine accessory - use a builders tarpaulin! It's exactly the same material as a genuine footprint. Doesn't matter one iota what colour, it's never seen in use. It needs to be cut/folded to be 4"/100mm SMALLER on ALL sides and follow the SIG base outline of tent. NOTHING should protrude outside the tent SIG, otherwise water off the tent walls wicks underneath and partially defeats the point of a footprint (to keep underside of SIG dry, to make packing up tent dry easier). The cut edges don't fray, eyelets can be added at corner points if wanted to enable pegging it down (use mushroom headed plastic pegs), that makes it easier to position tent correctly on top.

Problem, what problem!

Of course, always worth keeping an eye on classified Ads, ebay etc. the genuine articles can turn up, people have accidents that wreck their tent, but sell off otherwise perfect accessories as a way of limiting their losses.
