I am looking for advice on the above . Apart from the grampian being 10 pounds more, having more room, being heavier, being fully geodesic what are the pros and cons of one over the other. I notice the cairngorm has both tension straps and pole sleeve tension adjusters although go outdoors only mentions tension straps on the grampian. Any one here have a grampian and could verify . Many thanks

Check out the tent reviews on UKCS, you may be in luck. What you’re going to use the tent for might also make a difference re suitability.
However, I assume you’re not backpacking (if you are, the backpacking forum folks are knowledgeable about tents if you post there.)
Mainly i would be sticking to camping and camping club camp or caravan and motorhome sites. Don't really want to do wild camping or hikingwat the moment but not ruling it out later thats were weight may factor in . But not sure if the weight difference would amount to much
TBH, IMHO if only regular camping, and transport is not an issue, they are both a very uncomfortable way to camp! Their benefit is in being compact and relatively light, best suited to backpacking and the like (although not the best tents for that either really if into serious backpacking and trekking into the wilds!)
The point has been debated before, and the much voiced opinion was if staying put on a regular site, you need sheltered 'living' space to sit in comfort, eat in comfort etc. to escape from any bad weather. It's the most miserable thing to be confined to your bed, or a barely usable low height area for hour upon hour taking shelter from the elements, and rain is pretty much a certainty, never failed to rain whenever I've camped.
The last debate I recall, the chap was convinced to raise his sights from these type of tents, to something larger and more 'liveable'. IIRC, he came back on here after his first trip and thanked us for steering him to a bigger tent, he did indeed spend time sheltering from the rain and was hugely grateful to have a comfortable 'living room'.
I've camped with tiny 'canvas coffin' tents but purely for sleeping in, we had a large tarpaulin as our sheltered (from sun and rain!) 'lounge' and 'kitchen' area. It worked well, but would still opt for a big tent as first choice.
