Hi summer is nearly over and we just cant find a suitable tent. Looking for something to fit 5 single air beds... dont mind it being tight with no gaps and slight overlapping!
Really want a bit of an ourdoor porch like the Berghaus 400 XL. This tent would be perfect but the bedroom dimensions is only 280cm so wont fit. Vango Sierra 500 was interesting but still too tight? Any advice? Thanks.

Not tented for a very long time so can't help on that front, but as it's nearly the end of the season now, why don't you wait till the February NEC show? There's a hall full of just tents, you can go armed with your requirements and look at all the various ones on display and pick the staff brains as well. It really is a good day out.

On the other hand, now is a good time to buy with end of season discounts!
I would have thought that all the tent retail outlets would have displays including 6-berth tents which the OP needs.
My son has a 6-berth tent, for the 4 of them, so room to sleep 6 across the back with a similar amount of room in front of that plus a porch on the front - but I've no idea what make.

Very fundamental 'Rule' of tent choice (often learnt by early mistakes of ignoring!) is discount one berth from any manufacturers claim, and that applies to bedrooms, not just overall tent!
I know you may not be concerned about 'overlapping' air beds, but they do not lead to good sleep when one occupant moves and disturbs their neighbour through transfer of movement! A gap is very worthwhile. Unless pitch is perfectly level (almost none are!) airbeds tend to 'walk' down slopes when occupants move and are inclined to bunch up towards lowest point, if they already overlap, that just means they want to stack!
Many retailers like Go-Outdoors, Decathlon etc. have good erected displays to let you experience the pros and cons of tent types, you don't have to buy what's on offer, or from them, but the hands on experience is invaluable in making good choices. Shows are great too, but usually only once or twice a year, which may not be convenient.
End of season is often a good time to buy as stockist want to clear stock at a discount before winter sales lull, as is the very start of the new season as they want rid of last year's models to make space for new years models.
