I have decided to return to camping - albeit on an adhoc (weather looking nice, go away for 3-4 nights midweek) basis.
The idea is to do something with my daughters 15 and 5 years during the week while OH - who hates camping and caravanning - is at work !!!!
So i need a tent to sleep 3 comfortably, loads of head room ( i get claustrophobic) and small living area. I have looked at the Royal La Rochelle 4 which looks relatively easy to get up and is not too big but has a good sleeping/living area. Looking for something around £100 as this is an extra holls idea and we normally fly somewhere for the major holl.
I have many years of childhood camping behind me ( from years 1 -18 !!) but that was with a very practical and knowledgable dad - i could always bribe him to come along i suppose !!
Any ideas or suggestions please.

We are fans of Khyam for ease of setting up. Ours is one of the big ones, but I have often looked at the Freelander for the 'quick getaways' that you suggest. Probably tight on space for sleeping, but good head height in the living area. It's over your budget but this seems a good deal with free delivery:
HI I have Royal La Rochelle 4 , which was a Wichtia 4 , but has been renamed. I saw one today at the Kent show (SK camping) and thought that looks like mine, sure enough despite them having a sign calling it a La Rochelle 4 , the tent had Wichtia 4 on label.
It is easy enough to put up , flysheet first , hook on bedroom..I liked it because most tents I looked at ,were high in bedroom and lower in living area, the Witchia is the opposite.
Thanks for all the info, am still tempted with the La Rochelle ( or Witchita 4 !) as i like the idea of the larger living area as oppo to the gelert. I have been to Barretts of Feckenham and they have them for £79.99 but if i go for the witchita 4 from www.outdoorworld.org.uk for £65 is that because it is a 'old' model ?
Does anyone know how stable dome tents are ? Having said that i think if its gale force winds we would be safely tucked up at home !!

Our Royal Biarritz 6 has withstood many a blustery evening, get extra strong pegs and some storm guys for extra security if you are worried.

Hope you find what you want. Topdazzle suggested a Gelert Cadiz 5 which I happen to have for sale. Only used a few w/es, sleeps up to 5, good headrrom and only £50 (less than 1/2 rrp). Leaves you money for the other things like sleeping bags airbeds, stove, pans, pots, fleeces etc, etc.
I need to get it out of the way but don't want to give it away as it is a really good tent. I daren't sell rubbish on here, I'd never be able to og to a meet again and I'm booked for about 6 yet this year!
You could make me an offer. I also have 2 double airbeds for sale and a couple of sleeping bags.

visit www.Morningstarr.co.uk for unsolicited news and views.
We have a La Rochelle 4 and we love it. There are only two of us and the dog and we find it most comfortable - you can get three single blow ups in the sleeping area [but nothing else] we use that [third] space for the dog's bed and our bags. It does need two to put it up, or one very logical, patient and determined person, but dome tents are more stable than tunnel tents - but tunnel tents are much easier to put up.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
