Obviously the Indiana8 is cheaper - but why ? Is the Haven8 better made ? Have more features ? Longer warranty ?
This is out first attempt at camping as a family 2 adults & 2 children. I am assuming the kids will want to bring friends in the future so that is why I am looking at an 8.
Any suggestions will be gratefully received.

Looks to me that the Haven8 is larger (every cm counts in tents ) and has the bonus of roof lights to let in more light. Whether that warrants an extra hundred pound I can't say but if it's what you want from a tent then it's up to you. Have you searched the web for the best price of the these tents......you may find you could reduce the gap between them.
Cheers
Pete.

I have just taken delivery of a Campus Indiana 8. I read through a few articles and it is supposed to be a good tent. I have yet to put it up but it looks pretty big. I also managed to secure mine for £129.99 with £5 p&p as it had been used a couple of times in trade shows. www.outdooraction.co.uk I had ordered the factory second and they called me to offer this. Will let u know what I think if I get the chance to put it up tonight. Its a bit wet & windy here at the moment.
We have a Haven 6 and are very pleased with it. It's a massive tent with plenty of headroom. We found it very easy to put up and very well made. As there are only two of us we ended up getting a slightly smaller tent but still have the Haven just in case one of my nephews comes along with us anytime.

Hi, we have a Haven 800 - the 2006 model. Be careful not to get the Haven 8 which is the previous model, has a huge end door in addition to the side door (but you would have to take the bedrooms out to use it!). Also, the newer one has a Sewn-In Groundsheet - a must for us. It looks like the Indiana 8 is not sewn-in. Some people don't like SIGs but we prefer to keep little monsters out - not the kids(!) - rats, mice, creepy crawlies, etc. Also helps with rainwater running over the campsite surface - harder to get in. Simpler to erect too - peg out the groundsheet first, no messing about later. As CamperPete says above, the Haven is also a bit bigger than the Indiana and seems to have more windows/ventilation. Don't know your location - we got ours at United British Caravans, Newcastle upon Tyne - fab shop for all camping gear, and quite cheap. Ours cost £299 - but it was the 2006 model - I've seen it much dearer elsewhere, with the older model costing £299 too. Hope this helps.

Basically YES - it's one huge piece with the flysheet attached to groundsheet. Peg out the groundsheet bit, do the poles and it's up! The bedroom tents are separate hanging inners you can put in or leave out as you please.

we bought a haven 6 last year, and it suited the two of us down to the ground - plenty of 'lounging' room, and by not putting up the 'screen' between the bedrooms we had ample sleeping room too.
sad to say though we have now moved onto a folding camper - almost as much space but a far lot easier to erect.

We have a haven 6 and it has stood up to strong winds ,gales with no problem, in case your interested there was a haven 8 on sale on ebay last night ,bids are at £50 it sound as if its not been out of its bag, must be worth a look
I have never seen the Haven 8, but am an owner of the indiana 8.
Its a great tent with loads of room, and plenty of headroom too, we have 2 kids and there is enough room for us and the in-laws to go away and still not feel cramped.
the centre living space is ample for a family, sometimes when its only the wife and the kids, we leave the larger double bedroom out and have the whole end of the tent for storage.
There are two bedrooms at each end of the tent, both sleep 2 comfortably, but the bedroom at the one end, has a nylon divider seperating the two rooms, so we often leave that out and then we have a massive berdoom to ourselves, which is fantastic.
we went away in the tent a week ago and it survived torrential rain and gale force winds no problem.
Alos this tent is really easy to assemble, having colour coded poles and eyelets, so its just a case of sliding them through and attatching the clips at each end. It takes me and my wife 10 minutes to put the outer flysheet up, and then another 30 minutes to put down the groundsheet and inner compartments and pegging.
its a great tent, hope i have helped.
all the best with your choice.

We have the Indiania and have had no problems, saying that we've only used it once. It is plenty big enough for us.. 2 adults and 4 kids. can't really help as we've not used it in anger yet, we're away next week for our second trip.
what is it with all the sudden interest in the Indiana 8??? three threads in one day LOL
But iv'e got the Indiana 8 and my main reason for buying it was the price as it left money left over for other equipment. Having used it i'm really glad i got it as its a fantastic tent and being 6'4" there is loads of room.
