Supposedly going camping this weekend. 5 days in Devon, then 7 days in Dorset. But picking up from a previous thread about weather have tried all 3 sites recommended and cannot get a consistent weather report from all 3. Tempted to go with accu, as they say weather is going to be ok. Need Sun not scorching, but enough to chill out on and forget about the stresses of work. Enough to read during the day and sit out with a beer or glass of wine at night, even if I have to be wrapped up. - JUST DO NOT WANT RAIN. Teletext are offering cheap packages to Sharm (wonder why?) and at this minute very tempted. Can anyone give me a proper weather report or just tell me I am not mad to want to camp. - Also to the women out there - how do you make it easy and stress free
Just a note to say that terrorists have said there WILL be more attacks in Sharm-Al-Shiek, and other holiday spots where such like as Brits and Americans go, so at this moment in time holidays at home are a lot safer. I mean just imagine if you did go because of the cheap price and you ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. I don't know if you have children but if you do, would you really want to take the chance with their lives. REMEMBER these arseholes dont care who they kill, man, women, or child. Better to be safe now, than sorry later.
well I think I'd rather have the chance of some rain, then the chance of a bomb or two. secondly camping no currency exchanges, no language problems, and finally ,the amount of time you spend hanging around the airport you would have your rig up and be enjoying a cold beer, or a glass of wine. posibily in the rain but safe.
I agree! Stay away from Sharm and enjoy Devon and Dorset whatever the weather!
The met office do a 4 week general forecast + a detailed 5 day forecast for specific towns (this is usually the most accurate site - they actually forecast the weather, most of the other sites buy their info from them!)
ps. last bank holiday the weather forecaster on BBC advised everyone to stay at home, that the weather woudl be so bad everywhere that it wasn't worth leaving the front room. . . we went to Dorset anyway and had sunshine all weekend except for one shower!
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
You're not mad to want to camp, so what if it rains this is Britain. We have had a lovely couple of weekends away and the weather hasn't been brilliant for any. We have just enjoyed being away from it all, that includes mod cons.
As for making it stress free, just be as organised as possible, make sure you take the bottle of wine, corkscrew and a glass nothing else matters!!!! I'm just about to do a camping list on the computer so that I don't forget anything, I keep forgetting pillows!
Weather forecasts ... I've used www.bbc.co.uk it gives a 5 day, just type in where you are going ... I've found it's not been too wrong so far. Don't worry though as someone said earlier I'd rather be in rain than bombs and the scenery in this country wouldn't be as beautiful as it is if we didn't have the rain.
