hello, I'm new to camping, except for going with my son on cub camps. I would like some advice on which tent brand to buy. there are so many i'm not sure which is a good make or an economy brand.

i'm wanting a family tent with 2 seperate bedrooms and a living area, enough to stand up in. 4+ berth, which is not to difficult to erect.

got any suggestions?

I'd suggest always going for a slightly bigger tent than its name says, if there is four of you, go for a 6 - or 600..etc you will be grateful for the extra space.

As for what brand or model, I personally think that budget ranges do not do very good larger family tents, and you might want to be using it for years yet.

Have a look at vango's Diablo 600, Colorado 600 or if you want something smaller the Venture 500.

Here are the 6 man tents at wilday, which has good photos and descriptions (and not bad prices) http://www.qksrv.net/click-1428744-10297635?URL=http://www.wildday.co.uk/productslist.aspx?DepartmentId=5&selection=0&categoryID=22&productGroupID=169

Have a look at the Vango Aspen 500 (or 700) - its the best tent we've ever owned!

http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/directory2/details.asp?revid=667&typeid= have some great pics, or http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/directory2/details.asp?revid=1099&typeid= for a 360degree view.

Best price we've found was at http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/directory2/details.asp?revid=693&typeid= but I believe some of the folks on here have found cheaper.

Good luck!

Vango Diablo 600 or 900, Outwell Hartford XL or XXL

lots of space in all of these, a quality name, quality tents, = quality camping!

several other well known brands worth considering  as well, check through some more of the threads on this subject, go and view some tents at a show if you can, then be prepared to spend between £200 and £350 for many years enjoyment.
