Hi, Im quite new here. Great site, loads of useful info.
I bought a new tent from Argos called a pro action 9 man tundra tent. Had our first trip out a couple of weeks ago. For the money the tent is fab. Now we have decided we do like camping & we think we know what we want. Would love you lot to help me with the right tent please.
We would like 3 bedrooms or 3 areas to sleep in & would like to be able to stand up in the bedrooms.
We would like a porch as all the flies kept coming into the tent with the door open.
A decent sized living area incase of rain etc etc.
Not too worried about a sig but we did find it very draughty in the pro action as 2 of the bedroom pods did not have mud flaps.
We would like a nice shaped tent because we had a bit of a nightmare with the tarpaulin & cutting it to shape!
A few windows that let light in.
Only got a budget of about 200 pounds but will probably wait for the end of the season sales.
Would be very grateful for any suggestions.

Hi there, we are also new to this site and camping. We have only camped twice and are now looking to buy a frame tent. I cannot offer much advice but there are some good websites that you can look at to purchase tents www.tentsdirect.co.uk , this is a great site maybe you should have a look it might give you some idea of what you are looking for.
My advice if you are not bothered about buying used is to wait till the end of season and there are plenty of bargains to be had on ebay and a decent large frame tent can be brought well within your budget.
Buy now and you will pay through the nose.
Brought my Cabanon last winter spotless resonably new 3 years or so bags of room for 120 quid and have had a great time away this year with more planned.
------------- IM ALWAYS IN THE POOH ITS JUST THE DEPTH THAT VARIES
We are a family of five and have a hartford xl. This has three pods (sleeping 2 adults/3 kids each) and a central area with SIG which up to 4 adults could sleep in, but we go for the space and only 2 adults use. Very spacious with pockets for odds and ends. Would never get a tent without SIG..hate bugs!
Good Luck!

£200 should get you something, I would not worry too much.
Standing up in the bedroms will be a diferentiator, as most of the dome tents have lower height bedrooms. The vis-a-vis tunnels, where there is one bedroom down one end and two smaller ones down the other is more liekly to give you the height.
I would put a Khyam Indianna 8 on your short list and watch out for bargains. The 2005 models, using the "Campus" name, rather then Khyam are still around and going for around £180, which makes it good value.
Continuing with the same deisgn you also have the Outdoor Revolution Scenic 4.4 and the Gelert Alska 8. Both around your budget.

ps: one tent to look out for at the end of the season, which has great height through out is the Wynnster Antares 9 - Wynnser usually have over stock and sell off well at the end of the season.

Finally, you could go for an alternative dome shape, and have the bedroom pods inside the dome - this gives you the all over height, but less living space.
Look at tents like the Gelert Satellite and the Wynnster Condor. Similar and can be found as a bargain, as it is last years moel, is the Royal Andorra.
Personnally, not my favourite shape/set-up, but it is practical.
