I'm looking for a fairly large dome tent with a big living area and bedroom pods, is the Hartford XL the best tent available of this type? (For 2 adults and 2 kids.)
I've had a look locally at the Royal Biarritz 6 which seemed very nice but was just a bit dark in the living area. The Outwell looks slightly better but I can't seem to find anywhere in Cornwall that has one on display so any advice would be greatly appreciated. We've decided that this is the style we want but any other suggestions on what tent of this particular type would be the best one to buy would be great (SIG is a must though to keep OH happy.)
Great site by the way, already doubled my budget after having a look around
Cheers

The style you prefer is a very common one, similar tents are made by: Wynnster, Vango, Kyham, Aztec, as well as Royal and Outwell.
The Hartford has a very good reputation, which I am sure a lot of people on here will support... but then so do most of the others!
One thing to be aware of, with this style, is that the tents pitch inner-first, which means if it is raining, you are going to get the insides wet for a short while. IMHO, not a major thing, but it does bother some.

Thanks Big Bunny. I'm happy enough with pitching inner-first but would welcome any comments on the quality of the Hartford compared to any of the other brands.
We've got the hartford xxl, only used it twice so far but more than happy with it. It's easy to put up and the space that it offers is fantastic. We are 2 adults and 3 teenagers and we wouldn't be without our xxl now. The SIG is an advantage for us also.

XL owner here. It's a great tent. Although we have bought another Outwell that is easier to put up for weekends I would be loathe to part with the XL for longer trips as it's everything we need an more. I like the separate bedrooms and size of living space.
Being fairly new to camping, having bought our tent last year, we always go and have a shufty at the tents at the campsites we are on. Never really been impressed by any other brand so far, although I'm sure they have their merits. If we were to go for something 'better' it would be a Norfolk Lake from Outwell. We have also added the canopy, which is not the best design and I wouldn't be surprised if they don't improve on it next year. It does gives us an additional massive space to cook in, socialise in when the weather isn't that great. It would be better though if you could see one up.
PS we have the 2005 model which is a little bigger than this years model. You may still find one if you hunt around on the net.
