Bought this tent off an ebay seller and not knowing alot about camping being a first time camper was dissapointed.
On erection two of the main pegging out ring to tent straps came away due to poor stitching, overall stitching was poor quality.
The overall tent size was great and there was plenty of room, but there was a lack of ventalition and the tent got very hot, the orange piping on the tent attracted the insects in their swarms.
The tent material was thin and on chatting with others about this tent i found it only had a HH of 1500, this was stated on the ebayers sale page, but being new to camping didnt mean anything to me until now.
We had no rain so i can not say what it is like in the rain or wind...
Overall i am dissapointed with this tent and plan to buy a decent make one asap and use this as a backup...
out of 10 id give this tent a 5 and would not recommend it...
I'm very grateful for that. I have been looking at the Rage tents on ebay - was considering the 2 man tunnel tent for a weekend tent for me and my son. Shall avoid if they are that bad!
Thank you very much Steve for posting your review.
Lot's of newbee campers ask advice about some of the ebay tents on here, and to be quite honest, although we all tend to say "don't buy an ebay special", most of us have never even tried one, so it's great to have an honest review by someone who has bought one.
Okay it was a bad buy, but it's good to hear that it hasn't put you off camping. Hope you manage to find your perfect tent and have many happy holidays in it

We nearly bought one of these as we wanted a big tent but didn't have loads a money. Lost out on the bid but was given a second chance offer. (hadn't seen the reviews then) Bottled out as we saw the 1500HH and decided to go for a known make. Glad we did! Got a bargain Wynnster for the same price. At the time we were also watching the tents from Holland - didn't get one but would be interested to know what they're like. They were the Kahna and Maelstrom and a few others.
Hi Steve, Its good to see someone post a review of these tents as commented by JK98. I wonder how many people have been enticed by the tents advertised on Ebay ?
Unfortunately I bought one of these without reading the reviews on here :(
It should arrive in next couple of days, bought it really because of size, colour, as we are DUFC supporters lol, and also the price, and moved from a durham 6 berth tunnel tent, which I bought on ebay and had no problems with.
Will let you know how I get on, but tent is only to be used in summer, but going on british summer this year, hope it hold out to the rain....
Does anyone know a bit more about it, ie how it goes up and what the inside is all about, just want to find our more before it arrives.
A good honest review of a poor example of a tent, Steve, i hope you never get to use it in wind and rain, a freind of mines Rage tent fell apart in wind, then there is this as well:
There are lots of good deals to be had on ebay, but make sure you look at the sellers feedback, how long they have been selling/buying on ebay, always buy from sellers who take ebay as you have some protection if it's not as described or other things that go wrong (at checkout, don't follow instructions if they tell you to must check out with them even it it does eventually go to paypal. Reason being is that if the sale goes that way then it is an independent transaction and won't match up to the ebay auction. Companies will do this as a trick to make you think you are protected by paypal when in the end you're not. So alway click the pay now button on the actual auction and you will be protected.
Also, -out all those cheap brands and the will eliminate them from the search, that's what I do. I have never been burned on ebay and I've been buying and selling since 2001. you just have to research the seller and the tent. Don't ever be tempted if the auction is about to end, you always need to take the time to research the tent and seller. I would look at past sales, I find it odd that alot of those tents end up going for similar prices and wonder about the seller having the bid up. So just be careful, there are many bargains to be had.
I bought my Nebraska XXL brand new and save a ton of money and the company has been great and they also have an actual store.

sorry to hear about your tent, your description of the quality is exactly the same as mine. I have one too which i plan to put up this week and do a review, but just looking at the materials i wouldnt spend a rainy night in the thing. There are plenty of bargains to be had on Ebay tho, go for a well known make and try to view before buying.
Anyone want to buy a brand new tent if i post some nice piccies?
Well done Steve for posting an honest review this will help new campers just like you to make an informed decision. Glad it hasn't put you off.

Just to show the other side of the coin, not all Rage tents are bad.
I'm just back from my third weekend this summer using a Rage Alta 4 DX which I bought from Tentastic on e-bay about 5 weeks ago.
You all know what the weather has been like recently and that tent has not let a single drop of water in nor have any bits pulled off, come un-stitched, ripped or otherwise given me any cause for concern. It seems a very well made tent.
On site this weekend was another Rage tent (not sure what model) and that didn't appear to leaking or falling to bits either.

If you can't see the light at the end of the tunnel, just keep going till you go round the bend.
If you don't mind, can I ask how much you paid for it? I've noticed that there's a tendency for people to refer to 'cheap' ebay tents and was wondering what was meant by cheap, considering that my best tent cost less than half the price of my sunncamp yet is sturdier and holds up to anything thrown at. There are many decent tents to be had that are less than £200 that will accomodate a family, so is it a bit of a myth that 'cheap' tents are only to be had off ebay?
When ebay first started, there were genuine bargains to be had but now people tend to use ebay as a 'one stop shop' and it's often the case that a google search can bring up the same product cheaper. I've noticed that items in the pondshops are listed on ebay for over a pound, and people bid!!! I think ebay is being exploited by some, but it remains a great site for those looking for more obscure items.
You can check the pirces out for yourself on ebay here What interests me when you look at these listings is that they show RRPs of various prices - but has anyone here EVER seen a Rage tent advertised somewhere alse at anything like these alleged "full" prices?
