I'm looking to replace an old Outwell Duo-dome plus with something larger.
I like Khyam tents and have also been impressed with my old Outwell.
I am considering a Khyam Ultimate Classic or an Outwell Montana 6 or Nebraska XL. Personally I am favouring the Khyam, especially after seeing the number of leaking reports people have been having with new Outwells.
Any guidance would be most welcome.

To me, and this is just a personal thing, I would only buy the Kyham if I wanted the quick errect system; if I was nto that bothered by it, I would take a lot of other tents in preference.

The fact that all of the 'Khyam Ridgidome Classic' range can easily be pitched singlehanded, is not the only asset they have over other tents in a similar price band...
Due to the excellent design, they are extremely stable in bad weather conditions, no worries about poles twisting, snapping or bending out of shape... The materials and quality of build mean they last!... I bought an 'XXL Classic' five years ago and used it often, for three years. When I replaced it with the smaller 'XL Classic' I passed the tent to friends with a young family, they've been using it for two years now and it's still in 'A1' condition (no leaking seams after five years, let alone new!)...
You get a set of 'parts' (auto & universal joints etc.) with the tent, should you have problems. None of these have as yet, needed to be used!... All of the main poles are 'aero quality' aluminium, none of these have needed replacing either... Should the worse happen, 'Ridgidome' parts are widely available and not expensive to replace...
So you see, you don't only buy 'the quick erect system' with the 'Ridgidome Classic range' you also get 'peace of mind' that your tent will not fail you in 'wind, rain or (hopefully!) sunshine'. Which is something that you can't always guarantee with some other tents, at the moment...

I have a rigi-pod which is very good I would recommend khyam that said I have seen outwell at the shops and they look very good especially the lake series every manufacturer has had problems with quality but generally it seems that both khyam and outwell make very well designed and good quality tents
Got to be khyam for me, wife wants to be off doing things like sun bathing when hot, cant beat Khyam in my eyes, I have the XL-Classic went camping in Newquay couple of weeks ago and everyone cant believe how easy thay are to put up and take a good battering in bad weather too.

I am a definate Outwell fan, Khyam have never yet brought out a combination of design and features that fits our style of camping. Having said that, I would not recommend buying Outwell at present until they resolved the many problems they have had this year with quality.

In defence of outwell, we have the new indiana 8 and absolutely love it. We've just spent 2 weeks in Scotland where it rained every day, sometimes torrential and have had no leaks at all.
------------- Experience is something you get only AFTER you need it...
I have no problems with their customer service ( Generally ), but a big range of their tents have had ( and are still having ) problems. I havn't heard of the Indiana being affected so far, but certainly there have been major problems with the SV8 and Nebraska range. The SV8 was corrected but the Nebraksa is still an ongoing issue at the moment. I have had Outwell tents for a few years and have generally had no problems. Any little teething problems I have had have been sorted immediately by Outwell. This year has been an exception as there have been a fair few right from the start of the season. Its unfortunate because Outwell have brought out some excellent designs but they have been spoiled by very bad quality workmanship this year.
I am not even as keen on the Monty range this year as I was last year. If I could go back, I would never have sold my 2005 Monty.
The main thing is to practice erecting it one handed, while smiling at other campers with a glass of wine in the other hand. And just as it clicks into place, raise your glass to all teh other campers and say "cheers"..
