I’m a PhD student at Queen’s University Belfast, and I’m running the 2026 Great Pet Travel Survey as part of my research. The survey looks at where UK dogs travel, how owners protect them against parasites and other travel-associated diseases, and views on pet travel and prevention.
I’m looking for dog owners across the UK to take part. You do not need to travel with your dog to participate. Whether your dog travels overseas, only travels within the UK, or never travels at all, I’d really like to hear from you.
The survey looks at where UK dogs travel, how owners protect them against parasites and other travel-associated diseases, and views on pet travel and prevention.
The survey should take around 5–10 minutes to complete. Responses are anonymous and will be used for scientific research and policy advice only. They will not be used commercially or passed to third parties.
Please feel free to share this with other UK dog owners. The more people who take part, the better picture we can build of pet travel and prevention practices in the UK.
I’ve done the survey.
I would say that as we don’t travel abroad to the Continent with the MH, and would not take the dog if we did, my answers are probably of limited value : the survey does seem geared to people who go to the Continent (with or without their dogs).
However, the questions about diseases etc near the end, and the answers at the end after submitting, were informative. Worth doing the survey for that alone. I now know how little I know about such things.
Just completed the survey.
As the owner of a rescue dog from Romania and who takes the dog abroad regularly, I like to think I am fairly well informed on these matters, but there were still some diseases I had no idea about!
