I see from a previous Rex post that he and and Val have invested in JRC Carp Fishing bedchairs. We really fancy the look of them and have found stocks in a fishing magazine on winter sale reduced from £90 to £49. Has anyone else used them and what do you think of them? ie. comfort, pack size, weight. We do not have a trailer though we do have an Astra hatch and roof box which is usually filled to the gunnels!
Hi don't know what make our fishing beds are can't see lots of fishing stuff on top but have just measured as well as i could and they are approx 34" by 34" and 5" wide when packed down. I haven't been on mine for a while but can't remember ever thinking it was uncomfy and OH goes fishing at least once a month for a couple of nights and he's a big lad and finds them comfy hope this helps.
Been trying to think what they look like packed down and i suppose there square ish about the same size as our foldable picnic table the type that folds in half and i can lift one so not heavy heavy
We went into a local fishing shop and bought ours. We got a good deal but not as good as £49.
We have a large one for my husband, which my son borrows. It is big and too heavy for me to lift very easily.
I have a smaller one but is is not quite as comfortable when used as a chair but i can get it in and out of the tent no trouble so i can use it as a bed and a chair.
Those beds are designed to be comfy..hardwearing and light..if you've ever seen the amount of stuff carp fishermen take with them you would understand why..Some of them put us campers to shame with the gear they have...Ive been looking for a bed chair to add to my stuff..JRC have a good(ish) rep among fishermen...so if you dont mind...Marge could you give me details of where you saw this ad...Cos I for one would be very interested in one at that price....Also...could you tell me if its a 2 leg..or 3 leg version for that price...

we have 2 of them which we use with the JRC bivvi and are extremely comfortable although we only use ours if we are doing a beach fishing session and want to be comfy
Most Bedchairs are weight rated so make sure you get a strong enough 1 for your weigt. They fold up into a sqare and hight depends on how padded the bed is I use a Chubb bedchair and found it best to get the extra leg kits to make it a 6 legger(more stable than the standard 4}
get Anglers mail lots of on line bargains

Jelboy - when I phoned to order the JRC beds they were sold out but Fishtec offered me Force 8 beds, priced at £89.99 for £49.99 each. They arrived on Thursday and are awesome! Very light but strong (will take a very large man!) with 6 legs and very comfortable. The company is extremely helpful and delivery within 2 days. We can't wait to use them and are even considering a winter trip out in the tent! Thanks all for useful comments.
Thanks Marge..Sorry for the late reply...Got my eye on some JRC beds on a used fishing gear w/site I found the other night..But thanks again for your info..

im a carp angler and i would never consider ever taking my bed chair with me camping, far to bulky heavy and uncomfotable, mines a 160 quid top of the range version as well, its ok for doing a couple of 3 nights ruffing it on the bank, but id rather take my airbed for holidays i want to relax in comfort, also another consideration to consider if using a bed chair is you will need a fishing sleeping bag specially designed to fit on bed chairs otherwise you will be sliding all over the place on the chair
I know Rex used to give the bedchairs a good right up, I did look at them down at my local angling shop, but decided not for me, in the end I went for two ThermaRest DreamTime XL's, as the £9.99 Campingaz double airbed I got from ASDA was not fit for purpose, the DreamTime's on the other hand are in a class of there own. and are designed to fasten together to form a Queensize bed.
i use a fox six legger,with a mummy sleeping bag and i dont slide all over the place,.very stable if a little on the heavy side but what a nights kip you get
we used ours for a week early in May with a normal sleeping bag, small rug underneath the bag for extra insulation and extra rug on top for warmth. We have never slept so comfortably when camping. No clambering up off the floor in an undignified manner and really really good night's rest. Ours are really light weight and though they are bulky, we managed to pack them in our hatch back folded and standing up against the side doors. Hardly took up any room and still had loads of of space for packing. Best investment we every made.
