Had to laugh yesterday at a family trying to cook their lunch on a bbq for the first time.

Whipped out the diposable bbq, directly on to the floor, get it up and going for no more than 5 minutes and then throw all of their food on to it and wondered why the food just turned into charcoal brickettes!

funniest part about it was the forest ranger coming over asking them politely to move and the look of horror on their faces as they realised that their unprotected fire had scorched a big portion of the grass!!

Your location says it all.  You can take the boy out of the city...

The first time I used a disposable BBQ I left the outside cardboard on. Nice little fire we had.

Another time, my brother and I, thought it'd be fine to use on on my parents garden table. We weren't that silly we found some old roof tiles and stood it on those. It all worked, the table wasn't on fire.

Week later we realized the parents were coming back from holiday and we better start cleaning those house. Took the tiles off and revealed a melted mangled mess The tiles were very good at retaining heat.

Reminds me... must invest in another small BBQ. Last one disintegrated and haven't bothered to replace it, but now get really jealous when I smell those of neighboring campers!

I'll search the forum for a good recommendation.

My sisters husband is a disaster with disposable bbq first time he tried to light one he couldn't get it light outside so he brought it in doors and almost torched the curtains.

The second time he thought he was being clever by setting it on the wooden table which caught fire he was panicked and trying to bash the flames out, i overturned the table on the pavers.
