I'm new to camping and having been twice this summer we are now looking to go somewhere we could involve other activities on our trip. Can anyone recommend good locations for campsites which have outdoor activities near by?
The type of activities we are interested in are:
Climb/abseil
Canoeing/kayaking
Raft building
Archery
Gorge Walking
I am based in London so a few different locations would be great i.e. willing to travel as far as Scotland but would also like some closer to home locations for shorter weekend breaks.
------------- Love a lot. Trust a few. But ALWAYS paddle your own canoe!!

Thanks HT James, North Wales and Lake District is what all my research is telling me also.
Obviously this research came via google searches. The reason for me posting on this site is that it is a specialist camping site and I thought I could get some specialist information. Obviously I was mistaken.
Lots of canoeing oportunities at Symond's Yat in the beautiful Forest of Dean, about 3 hours drive from London. A good campsite is Bracelands.
Another option that's also about 3 hours drive is Brecon Beacons for Canoeing and waterfall walks. We recently stayed at Grawen which was a gorgeous site for basic camping.
We also has the same idea this year & I got some really good replies on a thread about outdoor activity centres in the Campsite forum. The area around Aviemore seemed particularly good.
I found it quite hard to find activity centres that weren't residential though, probably like you, I wanted some freedom rather than having to stick to a daily schedule.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
