Always something going on at North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Pickering. Good camp site is the Black Bull, around a mile out of Pickering Town Centre on a bus route.
I'll be at the Oulton Park Gold Cup this year to watch the historic and classic car racing (a bit like the Goodwood Festival but with actual racing on the circuit). It's worth a look if you like that sort of thing.
It's a great location, near Chester, with some not bad facilities (considering it's not actually a camp site!) and it only costs £15 (for the camping) for the whole weekend!

The British and European tractor pulling championships are on the Saturday and Sunday of the bank holiday at Great Eccleston, Lancs - very noisy but great to watch. There's loads of campsites in the surrounding area - I've just come back from a lovely one not too far from there - but the nearest one is Park Raikes Farm, Garstang Road Great Eccleston.
