Sorry if this is in the wrong section but just wondered if anyone has cycled on the Isle of Wight. We are off for 2 weeks in August and are considering taking our bikes and trailer for dogs. We have two kids aged 12 and 16 but are very fair weather cyclist and don't go very often.

Wondered what people thought. Thanks

Went there a few weeks ago and decided against taking our bikes. The cycle routes we saw took in some very busy roads.Maybe I am wrong but that is how we saw it.

I frequently used public transport when I went hiking around the island, also sussing it out my family of cyclists. I used to be a cyclist and decided many roads are too narrow and busy. There are cyclist books and I think there is one 'Cycling on the Isle of Wight' worth looking at. Perhaps some research into most suitable parts for cycling - not all roads are narrow or busy would persuade you either way.
