Well we've got the tent and sleeping bags, footprint groundsheet is on its way. Practiced packing tent away and am getting better at it, after some helpful advice (thanks).
Our first major foray into camping will be the Folk Festival at Cambridge. We will be pitching the tent at Coldhams Common. Has anyone on the forum experience of this venue? Any tips or advice?
Its a great venue, with regular free buses between it and the festival site, I would try and take a fold up loo, the ones on site can get busy at the end of the evening and in the morning, they have workshops on in the mornings tea time for children and often a few of the bands come over to play. get there a.s.a.p. when it opens for the best pitches, as in all festivals, keep any valuables you have to take with you. locked in the car, and the keys down the end of your sleeping bag. We would camp, but my sister lives opposite the entrance to Cherry Hinton park, but we are going camping straight from the fest, Enjoy and perhaps we will see you there.
Thanks for the info. I might not mention the loo situation to the wife, as this is her very first time under canvas, reluctantly so. The fold up loo might not be an option, as our adult daughter is sharing the tent with us. The daughter and I have lived under canvass before, me in the RAF she in the Egyptian desert. Really looking forward to Cambridge as this is the first music festival for all of us.
