Hi, my wife & I bought our first caravan (a lovely Bailey Pageant Provence) at the end of October last year & have enjoyed several long weekends away since, mostly within an hour or 2 of home. I’m happy towing (& am getting better) but in a couple of weeks we are off to Wyke Down Caravan site near Andover (as a base whilst we go to Car Fest) followed by 5 nights on the Isle of Wight.

On the way home (near to Exeter) we need to be able to stop for a while to walk our dogs & have a bite to eat & it’s occurred to me that not everywhere will be suitable for parking an almost 12m long outfit.

I’m thinking of either Avon Heath Country Park near Ringwood or Upton Country Park, near Poole, has anyone any information on access & parking at these places, or any other suggestions?

We’ll be travelling on a Sunday on the A31 & A35, I’d rather not go too far out of the way.

BTW, this will be our longest adventure yet with 2 sites & ferry crossings, we can’t wait :-)

Dorchester and West Bay both have car parks where you can take a motor home. We spotted the Dorchester one on a parking information leaflet we picked up whilst on holiday last week, but I don't know what the place is like.
The West Bay one is unpaved, and I think you'd have to turn round in it. As you drive in, there is a paved car park with a wooden play area for children, the car park you want is between this play area and the beach car park, you get to it by going to the end of the road and then left, and left again.
You won't be able to take your dog onto the beach.

These may not be the best dog spaces, but they should accommodate your car and caravan if no one comes up with a better plan!
