First time posting, looking at moving into a caravan for a year in a bid to save money for a house deposit, it would be myself, hubby and our 5 year old daughter.
Anyone know of any sites in the Hampshire/Dorset area that allow long term lets? Happy to go off-site every 28 days for a weekend to stay with friends/family, but ideally don't want to be moving the van every month. Any help/advice/tips would be greatly appreciated
Hi. Read all the comments going back over time but I’m concerned about healthcare if I disappear abroad for any length of time particularly if I’ve rented out my uk flat. Any thoughts?

In the EU? Who knows after next year. You are entitled to basic healthcare with your EHIC at the moment.
Hi Ratnail, i have been living in my hobby caravan for about 18 months, but am also looking for somewhere better.
currently i am living on what is basically a caravan storage park, there are about 40 vans here that people leave here when they are not using them.
there are 3 of us living here, 1 guy been here 20years, the other, my mate who stays in an rv, and me. we all have electric hook up and a nearby tap. living through the winter is not for the faint hearted lol.
i would relly like to find somewhere "better", the ground is stone and mud, so not ideal. give me a shout if you find any places that allow permanent stayers
I’m afraid you could be out of luck as Ratnail has not posted anything in nearly eight years.
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!

read all your valuable comments from 2009 to 2018, it was very interesting. Still a few unanswered questions, mainly, where to site a caravan for most of the year, and how Council Tax fits into all this. I've been separated form the wife for a few months and living with my mother, but I need my own space. Renting a flat is expensive so living on a seasonal/private plot seems to be the best course of action, as far as I can ascertain. Only recently started researching this subject so a long way to go yet, but it's a start.
If anyone else is interested in doing this, or has already done it, then please supply any relevant info, I would be very grateful.
Thanks/diolch,
Matthew.

Hi I know this is an old thread but if anyone can help I would appreciate it, I want to find sites where I can park my tourer either for single months and move around or for a longer time , I can’t seem to find any sites, does anyone know how I can find them on internet , thank you
you need to look for CL sites. they are licensed by virtue of an umbrella organisation such as the camping and caravan club etc and are limited to 6 units maximum, with a maximum occupancy of 30 days at a time after which you must vacate the site for the next 30 days. You will also need to be a member of the 'umbrella' club to use the sites.
i am somewhat surprised that you havent found them or any information about them on the internet

Go to Camp Site Search, choose an area on the Map, select your required facilities, and look for sites marked with a orange icon, which are Club Certificated Locations (Caravan and Motorhome Club) or Certificated Sites (Camping and Caravanning Club).
Ideally, find two or more sites of the same club that you could move between (subject to availability) to comply with the rules about length of stay.
