Hi,we have inherited a static caravan and are looking for sites around north yorks, scarborough, whiby, filey area that don't have age resirictions on the van.
Family sites would be preferred.
Is the caravan already sited? It is very difficult to find a site which will take second hand vans as they want you to buy from them.
If it is sited, be aware that the site will charge quite a lot for "unsiting" it. When we lost ours in the 2000 floods, the site charged £2000 for disconnecting the old van because we changed sites. The new site charged £1000 for siting the new one too so something to bear in mind.
Hey thanx for that...
the van isn't sited at present but we would love to site it and use it as we have two young boys...the only ones I can find are Haven and Park resorts, this would be the boys first choice but not nessasarly ours!!!
thanx again, its nice to know there are those willing to help us novices...
I'd doubt if you would get Haven or Park Resorts to take a van on site so that might solve the debate between you and your boys!
Hope you find somewhere soon. We had a static for nearly 20 years - not on a coastal site as we live in the Midlands and didn't finish work till 5.30 on a Friday. We sold it when I had to care for my late Mom and couldn't use it. We now have a tourer on a seasonal site, are retired and use it almost every week in the summer (and sometimes in the winter) for 3 or 4 days.
You would be better looking for a small/privately owned campsite the likes of Haven/park are only really interested in selling you one of their expensive static caravans we are in Portmadog (haven)at the moment and they have been round the touring park 3 times already...
Why are the static sites so against old statics?? It's such a shame - not everyone can afford a newer van. Aren't they still getting money whatever the age of your static?
It's because statics are a cash cow. They make money when they sell you the van, profit from the yearly charges, profit on the money you spend on site on other stuff in the meantime and then another big profit by making you upgrade after a set number of years to a newer/new van. If you decide to pack it all in, you will often find you have to sell back to the site at a fraction of the actual worth of the van. These rules don't just apply to the big parks either.
A large tourer on a seasonal pitch is often a better option if you don't want to tow. That way you can always move on, if necessary, or if you just fancy a change of scene.

Hello I work at Barmston Beach on the East Coast. Barmston Beach is an excellent park to be on we have direct beach access no steps or ramps just a gentle walk to the beach and loads of dog walks in the area.
We have a fully heated outdoor pool which is excellent for sun bathing whilst the kids enjoy the pool or you can enjoy our owners only adult swim.
<font face="Arial">Barmston is a great place to relax its quiet and peaceful and is like no other park we have a great owners experience it truly is a great place to be.

Excellent staff there and you get the personal touch which is a rarity these days.
The main complex on park has and indoor toddler kids play area, huge entertainment room where they have acts and play game shows etc.
It has an amazing linked bingo which is linked to all the parks one lady won over £4000 on a full house last year. There is a very nice restaurant and bar, Sky sports etc. Tribute acts every month, entertainment every day March till November.
The park is a great place to be nice and easy to get to the beach and is 10 mins from Bridlington.<p align="center"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman"> <p align="center"><font size="3" face="Times New Roman">I think this site would be perfect for you and your children.
