Hello looking for advice .
I am thinking of buying a touring van.
and having it on a site as a static .
And leave on site all year In North wales . I believe this Is cheaper than having a static Caravan .
Q) How much cheaper Is this as regards to site fee's
Q) whats the advantage compared to a caravan . costs etc.
Thanks In advance .

The good thing Is If wanted to move the tourer, Its not so costly.
I would hope to put the tourer on a quite possibly rural site , no club pub amusement or play parks . Just basic facilities .
The biggest downside, in my opinion, to using a tourer on a permanent site is that of space inside, and the services you get with a static. Constant running water, plumbed-in WC, much more room etc.
On the other hand, you can tow a tourer off yourself, and don't have to rely on the site operatives or transport companies. As I understand it, when you sell a static you either have to sell it to the site operator, usually for peanuts, or take it off the site and sell it. Also, I believe that very few sites will allow you to site a static that they haven't sold you.
Thanks for your good advice .
I can see the advantage For the tourer .
Looks like I will have to go to North Wales on a Jolly and seek out A tourer already on a site , with a view to buying .
And check everything All In costs . Also depending on what the site fee's will be for all year round .
many sites charge the same for a seasonal pitch regardless of the size of the tourer so I would suggest you go for the largest you can afford/safely tow,, also allow for the cost of a good quality full size awning which is capable of being left erected for months on end (depending upon size of the tourer can be anything from around £700 -£1800 new, used one are readily available)
Another advantage of siting a tourer is the flexibility to move somewhere for a change. A few people on our site are towing somewhere else for their main holiday then returning.
I bought myself a twin axle hobby, installed a small domestic toilet and plumbed in to the on site waste. Changed the water system over so that it could run straight from the mains supply too. Plenty of space plus if I want, I can up and leave without to much hassle. (Easy conversion back to tourer facilities)
Site fees are for a tourer on a seasonal pitch but with the size and facilities of a mini static :)
