theres not much difference between wood and aluminium when it comes to a fully engulfed caravan fire. I'm not sure that BRE have ever conducted a full scale test or fire load comparison test on static caravans. most of the local planning requirements will prob have been 'professionally' determined a long, long time ago by mostly guess work !!!!

Check local planning laws as for Health and Safety reasons the distance is recommended to be 6m.
Whatever the minimum legal limit is, I would have thought that 7 feet away must be a huge contravention of some regulation or other. I would speak to the local council planning office, and/or the fire brigade. If you speak to the officer in charge of the local fire brigade, they will probably send someone out to take a look and advise you accordingly.
