Dose any body know how much it should cost to replace a water boiler, I've already bought the boiler so it's just replacing it with the old one The chimney is the same size on both boilers. I've just been quoted £260 just seems a little hi to me ?

Unable to say whether or not this is a fair price for installation, especially as you do not mention whether this is gas or electric, and whether by water boiler you mean something that just heats the water for a single outlet, or something that heats the water for multiple outlets, or something that provides heating as well as hot water.
You mention a chimney, so I assume is gas - which brings a whole lot of responsibility to the installer to get it right.
But - whatever it is, unless you have purchased exactly the same model, manufactured in the same year, as the one to be replaced, there is a good possibility of needing adjustments to the connections, and possible some new pipework.
Then it has to be tested for water leaks, and if gas, for gas pressure/safety and leaks.
If gas - the flue has to be checked to make sure it complies with regulations.
If it provides heating as well as water - then the radiators have to be checked and balanced.
One supposes that whoever is installing it is qualified to work on this type of fitting and situation, which means they have undergone training and joined a trade body - all of which costs money.
They must have insurance - which costs money.
They have to drive to and from your van, bringing with them the tools and any spare fittings that they need, or expect to need - which costs money.
Then - in order to stay in business, once they have paid for all their overheads, they have to make a profit.
If you think the quote is too high - then get some more quotes, but remember you are paying for not just the time of fitting, but for somebody who has the training, experience and qualifications to fit it.
IF this is a gas water heater, then to me £260 sounds a cheap price.
IF this is a gas boiler that supplies heating as well as hot water - then £260 sounds a bit TOO cheap.
Have you checked they are on the gas-safe register?

Did you manage to get it fitted?
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
usually when the installer buys an item they charge you the retail price and they only pay the trade price. that 'profit' covers the potential of things not being quite right or having to come back to sort minor niggles.
if the customer buys their own item, then there is no wriggle room for niggles etc. so they usually add a bit extra on for just the installation, though in your case i doubt they have done that as the price seems very reasonable to me, taking into account labour. travelling, vat etc. and of course business 'profit' without which its difficult to run a business due to slack periods, sickness, holidays etc

Hi. Thank you for your reply. Yes the guy that fitted the boiler dose have all the necessary paperwork. He lives near me as thats how I found out about him advertising locally. My boiler is just a straght forward water heater that makes hot water for the shower and taps, no radiators. It was a perfectly straight swap no extra parts needed.
Hi thank you for your reply. Well he would only except cash. There were no extra fitting bits required as perfect fit. But after it was fitted he did have a little trouble making it work, he said that the battery's were not right, funny as it was new. As soon as he left it wasn't working and after phoning him he said thst he couldn't come round for about two weeks, and the charge would be £80 per hour. So I wasn't a happy person. So I'm thinking that £260 was definitely to much money now.
surely he demonstrated that it was fully working before he left? if youre not happy, consider reporting him to trading standards or posting some sort of message on local social media, BUT keep to the facts, not what you think happened!
