MORCO OPEN-FLUED GAS WATER HEATER

Models affected

Primo 6 Litre (MP6) & EUP 6 Litre &
Primo 11 Litre (MP11) EUP 11 Litre

Hazard: RISK OF FIRE

Please stop using the water heater immediately and isolate the gas supply to the appliance.

You do not need to be a Gas Safe Engineer to isolate the gas using the isolation valve located under the appliance as per the photograph below.

We have discovered that there is a risk of a gas leak in the above open-flued gas water heaters, which could result in a fire.

These products were sold into the market between 2018 and 2023 and all serial numbers sold between these dates are included in this notification. They are typically installed in static/caravan holiday homes, boats or mobile catering vehicles.

If you have one of these gas water heaters installed (including those that have had the safety upgrade), please contact us immediately so we can discuss the next steps.

Please do not attempt to check or test the appliance yourself
Please contact Morco Products Ltd on telephone number 01482 325456

XVI yes?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.

It's related but another / continued issue

"In April 2024 we implemented a safety upgrade in relation to the affected water heaters. This was necessary because, following extensive tests, we identified a risk concerning the gas test connection screw. If the screw was not tightened sufficiently following installation or maintenance, a gas leak and ignition could occur. The control knobs and bezel were replaced due to a flammability risk.

Despite this upgrade, we have received reports of further incidents. We have arranged extensive independent investigations and tests, involving test houses and a forensic expert to find the root cause of the issue, but unfortunately the cause has not been identified. We must take a safety-first approach to this issue and therefore it is essential that the water heater is not used, and the gas supply to the appliance is isolated.

We understand that customers may be frustrated by the timing of this Safety Notice Not to Use the affected water heaters. We, and the experts involved, have worked tirelessly to try to avoid this situation, but unfortunately that has not been possible. We sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience this causes, but your safety is our absolute priority, and issuing the Safety Notice not to use the affected water heaters is the action we must take. "
