“Holiday homes: mis-sold and misled?”
ITV1, 8:30pm; STV, 10:45pm
Described as “this overdue exposé of a growing scandal at Britain’s holiday parks, where many caravan owners are being exploited by unscrupulous figures combining sharp sales practice, poor quality homes and hidden fees to make a handsome profit. As legal action brews, what can be done?”
I’m only quoting my newspaper, obviously many here are very happy with their holiday homes. But it might be something to watch if you’re thinking of buying one for the first time. And of course, much helpful advice has been given in many threads in this forum.
Thanks for the notice, it should be interesting viewing. It's something we've thought about for a long time but the dodgy practices and regular yearly expense puts us off. If there is a year where we couldn't use the mobile home (eg covid, illness, family events) it still costs the same £3k or more anyway.
Holiday home sales is an imperfect market. There is no publicly available record of prices paid so comparing current and recent prices to ensure a good deal isn't posdible.
If sales were registered at Land Registry it would improve this situation, but even that is imperfect science.
