The Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club site is right on the shores of Derwentwater with direct access to the lake for canoes and paddle boards. It is a short walk into Keswick where there are loads of pubs, restaurants and cafes. During school holidays the site is busy as it is very popular with families but if you go during term time, it is much quieter.
CAMC (Caravan and Motorhome Club) takes tents on their Coniston Park Coppice site just south of Coniston village. The tent area is unfortunately the most distant part of the site from the lake, which is about 1/2 mile away on pedestrian paths through the site's wooded hillside. There is a pub about 1 mile away reachable partly on footpaths partly on a lane, or mostly on footpaths but longer route. Typical CAMC site of very well maintained facilities. There is also a bus that stops right at the site entrance, but typical rather sparse country timetable!
Coniston Hall campsite is lakeside (Coniston water), but a bit 'free for all' with pitching on some very uneven ground if a latecomer and picking from the least desirable pitches, tents mix with MHs and Campervans (no caravans) on completely unallocated/unmarked spaces, it's all pretty informal, and the farm's sheep often wander the site, the Cumbria Way goes through the site too! I've walked through it countless times and wouldn't say quiet is guaranteed, it's also on a working farm with livestock so also has that as background noise! ('the quiet of the country' is largely a myth if near a farm!). I'm told the single toilet/shower block is OK, but can be a little distant from some parts of the site! The 'elite' from the impeccably organised nearby CAMC CPC site jokingly refer to it as 'Beirut' (think you need to be of a certain age for that to register!) which I feel may be a little unkind, it's less formal and more as old fashioned camp sites used to be a few decades ago. Again about a mile or so from a pub (same as CAMC CPC site) across footpaths.
Coniston Camping Hoathwaite is another option. Don't know too much about it. It's more Torver than Coniston. They rate themselves as a 'quiet site', and having walked passed it I don't recall any obvious noise from it.
The Keswick Camping and Caravanning Club site previously mentioned is a lovely location, BUT it frequently floods and certainly Caravans/MHs/Campervans are evicted at fairly short notice, not sure what happens with tents!
Both CAMC and CCC charge a premium pitch rate for non-members, if staying for more than a few day, it's often cheaper to join the club for the members pitch rates which in effect cover the membership fee!
As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
