Can anyone confirm there are strict fire regulations for camp sites in Cornwall? We were told this week you had to park left of our pitch number, tent first then car; ie alternate. Also facing the roadway.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

the regulations are no different in cornwall than anywhere else in the country. it is all down to the site management to enforce, some do, some dont!
That's very interesting, we were spouted for 'Fire regulations and health and safety' you have to park your car and tent facing the roadway. Side on to the wind (Agnes) and spent 5 hours holding our air beams when we could have been pitched bum to the wind, surrounded on three sides by hedges and a fence. No other campers there. We left 3 days early.
Standard regs, apply everywhere, found on a number gov.uk websites: “Ensure caravans and tents are at least six metres apart and away from parked cars, to reduce the risk of fire spreading.”
Any other rules, like which way you park, are the site’s own.
I think we’ve all felt uncomfortable on some sites where it feels closer than 6m & other pitches are noticeably generous. We can note that in our reviews.
I read all the regs and, as you say, couldn't find anything about parking and pitching the way we had to. There were no other tents there as you can see. If we had just been able to pitch the other way around bum to the wind back by the fence and hedges both sides, car in front, I know we'd have weathered Agnes and still be there. So annoying.
In my experiance (many years ago) the site insurance companies put spacing in their small print, the two clubs have always followed this 6 metre rule as do many show grounds, it does seem pop festivals do not follow any spacing rules
The spacing I can understand to reduce the chance of fire spreading. I have been to some sites that resemble more of a festival set up with neighbouring huge tents on the pitch boundary limit.
Parking the car facing the roadway, again makes sense to reduce the chance of an accident while reversing onto the access road, some large companies insist on this when parking at their sites.
Having the tent facing the road is an odd one, as far as I can see the only reason would be aesthetics.
