I agree, I’ve seen equally unjustified low scores. I think they’ve just ignored the categories & put one score at the end.
Thankfully, they only seem to do one review.
The problem is that some people will deviate towards non related issues and fail to remain focused on exactly the importance of what people need to know. And it's not just campsites either as people will leave reviews for all sorts of products such as clothes and shoes for example. A prime example from a recent review regarding an item of clothing was, "Received quickly but haven't tried it on yet" so it doesn't inspire me one bit to pay out for an expensive garment with a useless feeble review such as this.
If I read reviews of a particular campsite on here (which I sometimes do) I expect the content to be solely related to the campsite itself which commenting on noisy neighbours is an independent issue and should be detached from the campsite as inconsiderate campers will come and go respectively and create a nuisance at another campsite elsewhere. It's just a matter of sifting through the reviews and judge the merits of the campsite by the majority of either positive or negative reviews.
My post points out that their review had nothing to do with the site. Quite how the owners were supposed to instal a service station or suitable layby half way between the site and the poster's home is beyond me!
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
I notice that in most cases where a site is given a particularly bad review - the reviewer has posted only the one review and has contributed nothing further to the website. Obviously just going round the doors having a rant.
Best ignored !

Exactly what I said earlier: “Thankfully, they only seem to do one review.”
Seeing things from both sides, as I try to do, including noisy neighbours in a review may indicate that the site lets folk do as they like, and it may be that that site is popular with noisy people for that reason. So folk who like peace and quiet might be better avoiding it.

I find a lot of people seem to review their whole holiday, complaining about the area and prices rather than the campsite itself, it's not the campsites fault that they have chosen the wrong area for them, they need to do their homework properly and giving a bad review to a campsite that has everything they need is so wrong.
We recently went on a short European river cruise, including a concert and short trips.
As we were chatting to the people opposite on our way home, a less mobile older lady and her dau who wasn't young either, on asking if they'd enjoyed their holiday, they said it was awful. (We loved every minute). Most of the things they complained about were in the description/small print/told by the reps. Eventually they admitted they hadn't read/listened, so were disappointed. We found it to be exactly what we expected. So their review would be completely different to ours.
I always imagined that reviews on here, because they are not published immediately, are themselves reviewed?
Often people use reviews to have a go for some reason or other and you rarely learn anything about the actual campsite. One of the reasons I like the reviews on here is that they seem genuine and useful.

Yes I totally agree with what you say but you are missing the point as to what the OP was referring to. Some people will post negative comments that's not related to the campsite in any way at all which is what the OP was trying to clarify.

I think that is because they are reviewing their holiday experience rather than the campsite. Best to ignore such reviews/comments. Unfortunately it won't change behaviour because these people tend to be one offs?
I can't help but agree with the O/P. What on earth has it got to do with the site that there was nowhere to stop on the way there??
If people are going to review a campsite, they should review the CAMPSITE! Possibly the location if it is relevant. "Next to a waste tip" for instance.
You have just reminded me to do a review of the site we were on last weekend. I was very unhappy that the tide was out when I wanted it to be in (like in the photos on the campsites website). It’s a disgrace that the site couldn’t have sorted that out for us.
I have 5 reviews to do, of our 3 week East Anglia trip which ends tomorrow. Now on top of a hill near Royston. I think the owner needs to do something about the wind.
It works the other way too, some of the most positive reviews are equally as irrelevant because they review the holiday as a whole and not the actual campsite. It's surely rare to find an absolutely perfect site so 10/10 reviews should hardly ever exist yet there are thousands of them here.
