We're unexpectedly heading from the Midlands to Aberdeen to visit friends in early September and would like some suggestions of nice stop offs. We will go up the A1 route and back down via the M6 for variety and as we have a moho, pub stops are an option.
But we'd really like a night in each direction at a campsite with breathtaking views. If it's within powered wheelchair distance of a pub so much the better. We like CLs and small sites.
On the way up we were thinking anywhere between York and Newcastle, then we will stay at the Kelpies in Falkirk.
On the way down we'd be looking at a site between Aberdeen and the border, and then anywhere from Penrith to Preston.
Suggestions gratefully received !

Will have a look and get back to you. Rather trying morning, took our car for its first MOT and it failed! A cut in the front offside tyre, no doubt caused by a pothole. Sorted now, luckily we have a nearby tyre shop.

We made a very similar trip in June, but in reverse (travelling up via M6 and returning via A1). We stayed at the C&CC sites at Culzean Castle and Dunbar.
I was at the Kelpies today, it so happens. It’s a car park not a CL and nowhere near a pub. Certainly has the view you want. You may have 174 other MHs parked beside you, though it’s unlikely - there were 6 of us in the much smaller free car park today, but you can’t overnight there. Just be aware you can’t leave early.
“This car park has 175 spaces located near The Kelpies and Visitor Centre. The Kelpies Car Park is locked at 10pm each night (April - October), 8pm each night (November - March), with no egress until the next morning when the car park re-opens at 8am.”
Otherwise, with your chosen route, I’d endorse the CCC Dunbar suggestion for views but it’s not small
. Be aware the Tay bridge at Dundee is best avoided due to major roadworks.
Thanks Fiona - yes we're aware that the Kelpies is just a car park, but we consider it a rite of passage for Moho owners, a bit like the terrifyingly huge aire at le Crotoy in France We've always had horses so it's a must ! No problem being locked in overnight, we will have to take supplies !
CCC Dunbar sounds good but we're CAMC members and not CCC unfortunately.

Have stayed at both these in Lancs area - New parkside farm, just off J34 M6 and for a little detour from J36 via Ingleton there's Lundolme farm and back on at J34. Both nice quiet sites and Lundholme especially walking or scooter distance into village.
When we went to the Kelpies we stayed at Beecraigs, a bit further east but easy or we wouldn't have done it. A commercial site, but reasonably priced we thought

Council owned & well run, views from coast to coast too.
Not sure why the Kelpies are “a right of passage” for MH overnight parking, but the sculptures of Duke & Barron the (real) Clydesdales never fail to impress.
They do charge £10 to park overnight in the larger carpark at the Kelpies's which you pay at the hut in the main carpark. We must go to see them, next year maybe.

Visited the Kelpies last month. There is an approach road where you may be able to park overnight that runs parallel to the canal.
https://underwoodcaravanpark.co.uk/ is near the Kelpies and I stayed there for a couple of nights. Nice small site and only a mile or so from the motorway.
A couple of miles from M6 Carlisle is this one https://www.westbrightenflatt.co.uk/. I stayed there couple of years ago. Lovely and quiet with great views. There is a pub nearby but you may have to drive
