Hi, I'm looking for a family site (ie accepts children) within about a two hour drive of Leicester that is either dog free or has a dog free camping area. Must take tents, and have a facilities block. I've had a look using the search, but that won't show the sites with dog free areas, and it's nice to get recommendations. Thank you.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!

What is meant by "dog free areas" please?
The Campsite Search facility has a "No Dog" filter for campsites, and that would mean no dog allowed within entire campsites. That's my understanding.

By "dog free area" I meant a particular area of pitches within a campsite thar might be specified as no dogs. We've been to sites that have separate adult only areas, wondered if any had the same regarding dogs.

We have a dog, so we know there are plenty of sites that don’t allow them.
However, always phone to confirm before booking as some sites don’t have either a “dogs allowed” or a “no dogs allowed” on the UKCS directory, just no policy either way which isn’t helpful for you.
No sites will have a split policy - people walk around sites with their dogs on a lead, you couldn’t police “here’s ok, but there isn’t ok”.
That's my understanding too - a site either accept dogs or no dogs, and I have yet to come across a site that has split areas; except for the on-site restaurant where dogs are not allowed.

I've come across a couple of sites abroad that had different camping areas for with/without dogs, and I think I've seen a site over here (can't remember where!) that had fully enclosed pitches for dogs. Dogs were also allowed on the ordinary pitches though.
Think it's just a case of checking through the information of sites in the area you're interested in, or going for a dog-free site.
I too have a dog so no interest in or experience of 'no dog' sites. The closest I've seen restricted areas for dogs is sometimes kiddie play areas and toilet/shower blocks, shop and food areas are generally dog free, but not even reception areas can be guaranteed to be dog free.
Think you are likely restricted in your choices to sites that are clearly stated as 'no dogs' at all, BUT be aware a great many sites have their own dog(s) regardless of whether they accept guest's dogs, their own dog(s) are sometimes cited as reason guest's dogs not accepted, as site dog(s) sometimes have free range!
Think you've got quite a restricted range of sites available to you, AND some detail checking if you are adamant you want no dogs in your vicinity!
I did a trial search centred on Stirling (central Scotland). 69 sites within 30 miles. Ticked ‘dogs allowed’ = 66. Confirmed ‘no dogs’ = 3. It certainly limits the choice.
I know from experience that hired statics usually do not allow dogs inside (due to later customers’ pet hair allergies), so that might be an option. If the statics are on a campsite, however, there will probably be dogs on site .
I have come across "no dog" sites citing farm animals as the reason why dogs are not allowed.
However, I cannot remember if the sites had their own dogs or not, sorry!
Definitely need to check the site details even if the "no dog" filter is applied when using the UKCS Site Search function.
I like camping as my main holiday format as it is easier and cheaper to find campsites that accept dogs that other types of accommodations.

Brean is 142 miles from Leicester so more than 2 hours, but if that's ok with you and you like bingo and funfairs ...oh, and muddy beaches. I would be looking at Lincolnshire.
