I booked a site in North Devon in September 2021 to attend a work related event, which was cancelled due to Covid concerns.
Delayed the stay until January/February 2022 when the work event was re-scheduled, cancelled again for the same reason.
Decided to go there on an extended personal trip in May 2022, cancelled in late April 2022 for personal reasons (could not take time off).
By that time, 130.00 GBP had already been paid.
The site owner agreed for the trip to be deferred to 2023, and kept the payment.
In July 2022, a booking was made for me for 6 nights for June 2023, at 28 GBP per night based on the new pricing structure for 2023 according to the e-mail, grass pitch with EHU, no single person discount.
I was getting ready for the trip which is next week. Being nosey, I checked the prices, and found the nightly rate has gone up to 34 GBP per night.
I contacted the site owner and offered to pay the difference, and did that.
My point is that, from July 2022 when my new booking was made by the owner based on their 2023 price structure at the time, to yesterday 06 June 2023, the pitch price had gone up by 6 GBP per night!!!
Would I have chosen to stay at this site at 34 GBP if I were to look for a site now? Probably not!!!

Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
The price of camp site pitches along with most things are only going one way.
During Covid when we could enjoy a staycation everywhere hiked up the prices as they knew that we couldn't go anywhere else, I was hoping prices might start falling but then the cost of living crisis hit, which pushed prices up even further with no sign of them coming down.
This summer we are taking a 2 week camping trip in Devon split over 2 sties, The first site is next to a lovely beach and is £168 for 7 nights, the second is adjoining a small theme park (the wife saw it on TV) which is an eye watering £490 for 7 nights, I must have been drunk when agreeing to that site! Both are basic pitches, non electric.
I can't help but wonder if they would ask for the 36 GBP extra had I not contacted them and offered to pay the extra.
It's done, so be it, and I kind of feel guilty about have changing the dates 3 times.

You're having a laugh aren't you? Surely those prices are misprints!
We're shortly going to a full facility site in Cornwall £144.50 for 10 nights followed by 5 nights at an off-grid site for a total of £42!

£490 for 7 nights? no way on earth would i be paying even half that amount esp for no ehu or anything else, in fact we are going on a rally for 7 nights in august and paying £70 for the 7 nights away
As far as I am concerned, we try to book sites at £20. Still possible if you look. If necessary we would consider paying up to £25 depending on site and location.
That's over 21% price hike in under a year, AND it's on the overall pitch fee, so cannot be excused as covering rise in energy costs, that would only be justified to be around £1 at most!
Looks like yet another site exploiting demand!
Can't keep wheeling out the old excuses of Covid losses, Brexit raising costs, and Energy cost rises (they are beginning to fall now - will we see reductions in due course!!!)
Not a site likely to be on my radar at those prices.

When I first approached them back in 2021, the owner commented another site that quoted me 45 GBP per night in late September was too much, and they would only charge 26 GBP per night for a hardstanding service pitch.
Funny how the table has turned!
My main issue is that the price of 28 GBP for a grass with EHU pitch as per their e-mail in July 2022 was supposed to be the price for 2023's season.
In theory, it should have been honoured, hence I was slightly taken aback that they accepted my offer to pay the difference without so much as a thank you - I have checked again, there isn't one!
I am only going there as I have already paid 130 GBP, and had re-scheduled 3 times, so I am showing good faith on my part.

Saw a car roof tent earlier which was a first, interesting!
I first saw a car roof tent in 1976. It was an Austin 1100 with a roof rack to which a plywood sheet had been fixed. A two man ridge tent was nailed to the wood. It didn't half rock when the young couple went to bed.

£16 a night with ACSI at a site in Brittany last week, 150 meters from a stunning, very uncrowded beach. I live in Devon, so I know what a stunning beach is…….This one is stunning!
I can understand your “guilt”, and technically yes, you have messed them about a bit with your bookings, but as the first two were due to covid (concerns) they should be excused, even from the site owner’s perspective.
Once that June ‘23 booking was “made for you” 11 months prior, but based on their own projected 2023 tariff, that should have been final. No more added cost!
I feel that… whilst your OP doesn’t surprise me… your kind heart has been too kind, on this occasion.

Apologies, I should have added the £490 includes access to the theme park for the week. But even with that I agree it's very expensive.
