Two trips booked for 2024 so far, both club sites, one each with C&CC and CAMC and paid the required deposits. The C&CC one is a repeat and the CAMC one is new to me.
I decided to try and stay at the two clubs' club sites if at all possible from now on instead of independent sites, to make the most of my membership fees and per person pricing. In addition, their club sites are likely to have more reliable free wi-fi for work purposes than independent sites.
It is unlikely I would be able to do this for August as their club sites are not adult-only.
However, it is a small price to pay for camping in August during the school holidays at adult-only sites!
I shall look for independent sites if the locations where I would like to visit do not have suitable club sites.

i wouldnt be so hopeful with regards to the chances of better wifi on the sites just because they are clubs sites! the ones we have been to had very little to offer and what there was, was only ever any good around the reception area and by around i mean sat outside the door! to be honest we have had better speeds when on cl's!
The `free` wi-fi at the C&MC site at Bunree may have been OK in the warden`s caravan, but the for the rest of the site it appeared non-existant, so I wouldn`t base the choice of a site upon the availability of wi-fi.
I'm not sure CAMC's WiFi is very good, judging by the number of complaints on their forum. Have used C&CC's WiFi, and that's a bit hit and miss as well, depending on where you are on the site.

Probably not the CAMC's greatest fan these days, but to be fair to them, not sure I see how criticism of historic site WiFi experience is particularly relevant or helpful to OP (BTW, I do believe the criticisms were just in their day!), as she should be experiencing an entirely new infrastructure system for her bookings in 2024.
Club is on a program of updating the infrastructure to provide free WiFi to ALL pitches, whereas the old system was only ever touted as a hot spot usually around the reception area with a bit of 'leakage' covering some nearby pitches, and on a subscriber basis (save free access to club web site)! As an intermediary measure, I believe the old system is now free to access, but obviously will not have improved it's coverage/usability until the new equipment is installed!
The new infrastructure is being rolled out through this year and not scheduled for completion until the end of year, so wondering if ANYONE commenting is actually doing so on experience of the new system! Really be good to get some relevant feedback on the new system.
Personally I don't stream video etc. so basic coverage to enable getting weather forecasts and a bit of 'Googling' research etc. is good enough for me.
Can't comment on CCC site's WiFi as not a member, don't recall WiFi on any of the independent or CL sites I've used, but then never a significant deciding factor on picking a particular site.
Taking into consideration the money saved when booking an independent site in comparison to a CAMC site, the difference pays for an extra night and the independent is as good or better than the CAMC site. We have not used a CAMC site for several years.

Rather than post an identical comment, I entirely agree 100% with marg6 (above) because I've found it to be exactly the same at club sites.
Can't comment on C&MHC sites as we are not members, but with C&CC sites it's a case of some are good but some aren't. They clearly haven't updated them all at the same time. It is being done piece-meal. Like Monty15 it is not a high priority for us. As long as we can do a bit of googling attractions, weather etc, that is all we really want. We rarely stream anything at home, never mind on holiday.
In my opinion Club site wifi is no more guaranteed than on commercial sites, it's very much a matter of luck. If they have it at all, CS/CLs are likely to be better simply by being smaller.

We don't stream and only use the internet for the basics. I find that the data in my package is sufficient for our needs.
In this day and age I rather object to hotels and other venues in the hospitality trade charging for wi fi when many smaller businesses (e.g. cafes) provide free access to customers.

Why not use CLs/CSs? Many of them have WiFi and are cheaper than Club sites.
Being a solo camper with a dog, I prefer to go to larger sites with more people and perhaps on-site wardens etc., and small sites that are remote.
I have checked out a few CSs and CLs physically, and they looked too remote for my liking.

Thanks for your comments with regard to site wi-fi not being reliable.
I have formed the same conclusion myself, and shall continue to check mobile phone signal coverage as part of my due diligence when researching for suitable sites.
In addition, I have started to e-mail potential sites and asked them about mobile phone signal coverage and wi-fi coverage etc., as I need to be contactable via phone and have access to the internet for work purposes.
Per person pricing is the main draw, after I got bitten by an independent site recently with their rather dubious business practices.

Agree about having to sit outside the CCC office to access the free Wi-Fi.
We’ve just paid £41pn for a members rate at a CAMC site, a shock when I know the site from 5 years ago & stayed recently at two of our favourite independent sites for c.£28: both just as good, both reliable free Wi-Fi, and both at the edge of a wee town & woodland for dog walking (I must check their pricing policies for DK).
There are different types of independent sites though - these 2 favourites are owned by a) local community and b) a single person who lives on site, not a major conglomerate or big business.
