Looking for a site in the Lakes by the water. Suitable for fishing, boating, kayaking, paddle boarding etc and views. Don’t want to drive to the lake, want something lakeside. Thanks
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Have you checked out the Search Facility and played around with the filters?
------------- XVI yes?
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
The CAMC Coniston Park Coppice site which I know well is not on the list!: https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=1621
It has lake shore access (although actual boundary of site a few hundred yards from water), you CAN'T tow a larger boat to waters edge, but you can hand manoeuvre a small dingy trailer etc. a few hundred yards from bottom of campsite across a field (on paths) to rough slipway. Site is on a steep hill (but pitches mostly level, terraced into hillside), so you'd likely need to tow a dingy to edge of site, park car (space available) then hand manoeuvre from there, and tow back up the hill.
It's a popular site for watersports types.
The above list includes sites that are by water but not necessarily a lake.
In addition to the Coniston site, the Camping and Caravanning Club site at Keswick (the one called Keswick, not Derwentwater) is right by the lakeside.
Low Wray campsite is on the western shore of Lake Windermere but does not accept caravans. Waterside House campsite is on the northern shores of Ullswater.
If you check out Google maps you should get an idea of which sites are properly lakeside.
If it's for this summer I'm guessing any lakeside sites will be a) pretty well booked up and b) very expensive, but good luck with your search.

The Camping and Caravanning club site at Keswick is right on the shore of Derwentwater and you can launch kayaks etc from the site. There are 2 CCC sites side by side, one called Keswick and one called Derwentwater. Only the Keswick site has direct access to the lake.
Been to Coniston site this summer, good access to lake, you do need to weave your way through units parked up on the site below the club site as it looks like a free for all and park wherever looks flat - easy enough to carry a SUP or kayak down, anything bigger and there is parking at the bottom. For a big site it was quiet in term time, not so sure now school holidays upon us. We will return just for the sheer handiness to the water and a short walk into the village.
As set in an a coppice no views as such, but more than enough views just off site.
