I am looking at buying a caravan to be able to use on seasonal pitches and I’m just wondering if there is an age limit on the caravan to be able to site it? Does the age limit vary from site to site? I wouldn’t want to buy a caravan to find that most campsites have a restriction.
Thank you

For a touring van on a seasonal pitch age shouldn't be a problem as long as it's reasonably clean and tidy. (Sites' definitions of clean and tidy may vary.)
Absolute age limits are more of an issue for statics generally.
Thank you, my budget is up to about £2,000 to start with so the caravan would be quite old.I was under the impression that once I had the caravan as long as I could afford the seasonal pitch fees and subject to availability I could pick wherever I wanted to go, I really hope this is the case. Unless there is anything else I need to know, sorry I’m new to this.

Thanks for the reply, the reason why I ask is because I phoned around a few campsites in Brean today and some were saying something about 12 years.
i think you are either getting confused or using the wrong terminations when you are on the phone to them, from looking on google maps i see that the area you approached is mainly static caravans, what your asking about is aa seasonal pitch for a touring caravan, and with those all you need to do is find a site in the area you wish to be for that year, pay the fees which can be well over £2000, and then thats it, providing that the site you want to be on has a vacant pitch otherwise it means going on a waiting list, so before you buy the caravan, you need to be prepared that you may end up having to store the caravan maybe at home and you will be towing it around with your car, is that something your able to do?
Some sites do have age restrictions on seasonal pitches but it varies depending on the site. We were looking at seasonals a few years ago and some sites we looked at would only accept caravans under 12 years old.

The seasonal fees in that area are a lot higher than £2000 per annum as a few years ago we were quoted close to £3000 at Warren Farm which is one of the cheaper sites for seasonal. We decided it was cheaper to have the caravan in storage.
However in Brean there is a storage site that offers towing on and off any site in the area. When you want to visit they tow it onto a pitch on a site of your choosing and then after your visit they remove the caravan again.
If the OP is buying a caravan for about £2000, paying £3000 or more for a seasonal pitch may not be suitable as that cost as to be paid upfront?
I have never heard of age limits on touring caravans, although I must admit we have never used a seasonal site. Our caravan is now 31 years old and we have never had any problems wherever we have been with it. Statics, now that is quite a different matter.
