So, how many other fellow campers, are seeing campsite prices going through the roof !?!?!?
I mean, I understand that things are tough at the moment but passing these costs onto us is not helping anybody.
Just paid £56 per night to stay at a campsite, yes it does have EHU but this wasn't essential and yes its close to a beach but how can £56 per night be justified?
I'm using all my equipment!
What is everyone else paying for a family of 4 ?
I think my campsite days are coming to an end, seriously thinking about using the pubs that allow Campervans, staying over on the beach etc.
Sorry for the rant.
Rant over.
Answer on a postcard please . . . . . . .
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
When is it for, and what other facilities are available on the site, like free use of the pool etc.?
Being close to a beach would attract a premium.
An all singing and dancing site will lots of facilities will bump up the price, if one does not use them all.
If the prices and extras are stated upfront, and one can price one's stay before making a final decision whether to book or not, then I do not believe why it is an issue.
The choice is there - one does not have to book it if one feels it is too expensive!

empty pitches is the only way these greedy sites will ever see sense.
what do we pay? around £15 a night with ehu, on a site within 200 meters of the beach ehu is metered and have never paid more than £7 for a fortnight and have a twin axle caravan with awning!
another site is at the back of a pub, alongside a canal, with ehu £16 a night
Echoing DK here: use the campsite search facility on here and find sites which are within your price bracket. Might be worth joining the CCC if you camp frequently. Commercial sites charge what the market will support.

Absolutely. Admittedly there are only two of us but anything much over £20 a night would be immediately off our list. If I was prepared to pay £56 a night, as I said on another thread, I would book into a hotel.
I was looking at Pentewan Sands, just out of interest, not my style of site at all, and I think that was about that for 4, but it has a pool, free evening entertainment and other free facilities. How much for 4 to go to a swimming pool, tickets for a show, and to park your car for 24 hours ? Plus use of showers, CDP, and leaving your rubbish.
There are loads of cheaper places out there, so you’re not strong armed.
The way I look at it, whatever "facilities" a site is offering, all you are really doing is renting a small piece of ground. Only you can decide how much that is worth.

Hi! I understand what you are all saying. The site I have booked is a site I have been going to for a number of years. It usually has a pool to use aswel as entertainment in the evenings ( not open at the moment) and yes I know I made the decision to go and book it, Its not that I can't afford the price of my stay I was just asking have all my fellow campers noticed the prices of these sites going up, to what I feel quite high prices.
To be honest , I feel now with many years experience in camping / campervaning I actually believe the cheaper £25 per night campsites feel to be better value and a better experience. The owners tend to be more helpful and knowledge of the area you are travelling to.
Just a thought . . . . . . .

Yes definitely, the cheaper sites are much better value and a better experience, although for us we would regard £25 a night as quite expensive. We usually aim for £18 as an average, although we have paid slightly more and slightly less.
We actually prefer the entertainment and activities to be away from the site, and having them on the site would put us off. Might have been different when we had kids with us, but we are retired now and have grown up grandchildren. We only really go on the site to sleep, we are usually out all day. My wife likes to swim, but I think she prefers the beach and sea to a swimming pool. She can go to one of those from home.
Hi
I got a site Aug bank Holiday near Matlock on a super pitch for £21.50 a night.
So bargains are still to be had out there if you look in the right place.
2nd week in Aug next year 6 nights at £31 a night on fully serviced pitch, that's around my upper limit.
But yes sites are trying it on, and they will do.
With loads of new caravaners, and campers out there, that don't know any better, and are desperate to get away at any cost, will walk straight into it with open arms.
It will get worse am afraid before it gets better.
You are probably right about it getting worse Ray.
We never go away in August but £21.50 sounds good, especially for a bank holiday. Those are times we particularly avoid. When I was working I used to volunteer to work bank holidays. Time and a half all day, plus a day off on full pay to take whenever I chose sounded good to me. I could then go out when everyone else was at work!
yes indeed ! I agree with everyone's comments on here. Im glad I have aired my frustration on this as its made me think twice about where I go from now on!
I totally understand that these sites need to make profit and I support that, but at these prices I no longer want to be part of it.
all that aside I shall go on our short trip and enjoy every moment (rain or shine)!!!
So we are having 4 nights at one campsite and 2 at another ( not decided on the second site yet, probably around Portsmouth / Bournemouth area) anyway....... I will now be looking at getting a CCC membership and will most definitely be looking at the smaller, cheaper not so well known sites.
A day of all things motorhome and campervan. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds. Catering, hot drinks and food options are available. Easy access to the site and free parking included. Win one of five pairs of day tickets
