I am looking for a site near the M6 toll/A5 junction, preferably within easy reach of either road, not Dunston Heath, not Pillaton. Don't want to pay the M6 toll twice. Have tried all the small sites past Gailey which in any case is the wrong direction.

The M6 toll and A5 junction is in the Cannock area in Staffordshire so you need to be looking for campsites somewhere in that area.

Thanks, I know, nowhere suitable coming up. As in £25 pn max with easy access, not miles away from main roads; it's a stopover, not a destination.

Site search (caravan / EHU / club members only) had a couple of CLs within a few miles (I put Cannock Chase in the search & looked for the M6) eg Park Farm CL & Springslade (not quite right) Lodge CS. Google maps might show up something too - not all sites are in the directory, as we know.

Looked them up, Springslade Lodge is surrounded by trees so no good. I assume Park Farm is the one at Stafford which we know. Looks like it will have to be that one again.

Have you checked prices at the Cannock Chase Club site (if it's open the dates you need)? Sometimes out of season they work out cheaper than you might expect, if it's not one of the most popular ones, especially with the Age Concession rates and other offers. I don't know about satellite reception though.

Thanks. Bofs, I think we will go to Park Farm again. Cannock Chase is a bit off our route really. I have a germ of an idea, up to and round the Cumbria coast (which you know about). Seeing as we will be oop north, thinking of also including CLs near Halifax and Strines on the way back. Then near Leicester on the way back.

I was looking for sites around Newark, and £25/night looks 'cheap' in relation to what many sites want! I'm with you, £25/night max seems ample to me for my basic needs, but looking like I may have to up my budget, very begrudgingly!

Indeed, I don't know what the price is now, but we have stayed at a nice site near Newark, name escapes me, will look it up.

Little Acres CL, but I haven't looked at their current price. A very nice site.

Only 6 amp ehu though, if that's a problem. Been a while since we stayed.

Thanks. Could live with the 6A, but CL not suitable. Ideally looking for a mixed tent and caravan site (but not a CCC as not a member!), as couple of friends joining me, can't all fit in my caravan anyway, and we all like our own little bit of space so mix of tents and van works for us.

Oops I forgot about the trees (or rather, no trees). The site search needs a tick box for that!
