Hi everyone
we are looking for a camping site in the lake district with electric hookup and walking distance to a pub which is nice and clean with good showers and toilets any help would be greatly appreciated

There are many sites in the Lake District that fit your criteria but be aware that several site owners, including the C&CC, are turning their best level pitches into hard standings for motorhomes due to the surge in motorhome ownership.
For this reason be wary of suggestions of sites that people have visited 3 or 4 years ago.
We spend a week every year at the Derwentwater Camping and Caravanning Club site in Keswick. It is a 5 minute walk from the centre of Keswick with all the shops, pubs and restaurants.
The CCC have 2 sites side by side in Keswick. If you have kids, the one called ‘Keswick CCC’ is better as it is right on the lake and loads of families go there with their canoes, Stand Up Paddle Boards or just paddle and swim in the Lake. The site down the road a bit is called ‘Derwentwater CCC’ and tends to attract more older adults as there are no facilities for children and no lake access.
We love it here as you don’t need to use the car at all for the week. The Keswick bus station is a few minutes walk from the site with regular busses that will take you pretty much anywhere in the Lake District for days out. There is also a large Booths supermarket beside the bus station so you can easily get any groceries you need and carry them the short distance back to the site. Although the site is so close to the town, it still feels quite peaceful as it is down a ‘no through road’ so you don’t get cars or many people passing.

As Mrs Bonce says, try the site search. You can even specify the distance to the pub. Be aware that the lakeside CCC & CAMC sites may already be fully booked: some people book their next stay as they leave.
The small CCC site just north of Kendal is ok & it’s walkable into town. We’ve also stayed on several independent sites, but too long ago to remember names: just as good and may be half the price of Club sites. (A recent CAMC site was £57 pn, admittedly at Easter.)
Seeing the Lake District is very popular and I can only go there next year in July 2027, I went ahead and booked my C&CC club sites for my trip just now!
Staying at Derwentwater and Bowness for 6 nights each, overnight stop on the way up at Alton.
I was planning to stop at Leek on the way up, however, it would not let me book just 1 night, hence I booked Alton instead.
Also booked Salisbury C&CC for Easter 2027.

Lake District is always popular: when we were coming home last time, we stopped to look round Windermere. Couldn’t find anywhere to park our short MH. So after trailing round several car parks, we drove away without so much as an ice cream.
I think there’s a good bus network, so I’d try that if we come again, rather than driving off the pitch.
Threlkeld Hall is really nice. There's a pub in Threlkeld village but the walk there can be a bit hairy!
We also liked Braithwaite C&CC. Pub in the village easy to walk to.
We go to Coniston CAMC site, walkable distance to the village with a variety of pubs/cafes and other shops. It's a large site but seems nicely split up and doesn't feel big. Usual clean standards of a club site. Plus point for us is proximity to the lake for paddleboarding, so makes it worth it price wise. Good bus service in the village.
Another vote for CAMC Coniston Park Coppice site. Rare for a CAMC site, it has a dedicated tent area. I love the location, the town is a mile away along off road footpaths, or a drive, bus service too. Nice pub about 1/2 mile. Busy times of year, there's a onsite catering van doing F&C or Pizza a few days a week. The lake is accessible by foot directly from the site.
CCC site at Keswick seems pleasant enough, and has great access to the lake, BUT it is prone to flooding. I've know of people evicted from pitches several times over the years when I've been staying on CAMC site at other end of lake (no tents allowed on that site), and that's been in the summer months!
A day of all things motorhome and campervan. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds. Catering, hot drinks and food options are available. Easy access to the site and free parking included. Win one of five pairs of day tickets
