I swore I would not go camping during school holidays again, let alone a double Bank Holiday weekend, after an unpleasant stay at my favourite campsite during the Diamond Jubilee weekend in 2012.
However, it was too good a weekend not to go camping, so I decided to go to an independent adult-only site about 01:15h's drive away (site feedback has been submitted).
Although my pitch was separated from a main road by a very tall Leylandii hedge and was quite noisy at times, I had a nice and relaxed stay.
It was packed, and they had to put a few MHs on the grass area for tents.
I booked in February 2022, knowing a single person discount was not available (I did ask beforehand).
Although the nightly rate was higher than what I would have liked, however, considering it was over the double BH weekend and school holidays, I considered it was justifiable.
The site facilities were very good and the staff very helpful and friendly, and I have taken notes of the quieter pitches for future reference.
I have already booked to stay at an adult-only site in August 2022 at a (cider) pub with two campsites, one of which is adult-only (again, with no single person discount). They still have availability when I checked a few minutes ago. Can't wait!
Please share your experiences at adult-only sites, thanks.

We absolutely love them and have found 3 up to now that are top of our list. We will be trying a 4th in a couple of weeks. Peaceful, relaxing and friendly.
I think adult only sites are the reward for all the time spent on family sites with our kids!

The only thing more annoying than noisy children is noisy adults! 😆
Luckily, I have not encountered any for the two adult-only site that I have stayed so far.
The first one was last year in Devon and only has 5 pitches or so, very peaceful.
The one I stayed over the double BH weekend, there was no organised celebrations of any kind, just friends from a couple of units having meals and drinks together.
When I went out for my last trip to the facilities block at about 23:00h, I could hear a pin drop!

Run an adult only CL in South Glos close to M4 Junction 18 Bristol/Bath.
Would be nice to see a few more arrive from this Forum. https://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/sites/details.asp?revid=20333
Looks nice, however, not for me personally as I need EHU.
Good luck with the site.

Unfortunately we have a caravan and prefer CLs with water and waste water connections in addition to EHU. We always use our own facilities.

It’s not the absence of children that we look for, it’s the absence of a play area. Parents who post reviews criticise sites without play areas (ie nothing for the child to do), but these often (understandably?) seem to be used as an unsupervised crèche. I’ve lost track of how often the play area is still noisy across the whole site well after our own 11pm bedtime, into darkness on one memorable occasion (and why we moved on next day).
But as has been said, adults sitting outside drinking with friends from other units can be just as noisy, just as late. On one site it was the relief warden & his mates who kept us awake. Or college aged adults crammed into a wee tent can be celebrating finishing exams, at 2am.
It's not just the noise of children, it's how ill mannered and inconsiderate (but that's a reflection of their parents own failings!) they can be, can't think of many child friendly sites I've been to where not had kids running around on my pitch AND balls bouncing off the van/car, that's bad enough but it sets my normally quiet dog off as well as she gets upset by the 'intruders', risk of my dog being considered 'noisy and a nuisance' because she reacts to kids being where/doing what they shouldn't, she's perfectly at ease with and quiet with people a respectful distance from van.
I make every effort to keep well clear of kids play areas on campsites for the very reasons Fiona mentioned. Far too many parents absolve themselves of parental responsibility in any form once they pitch up!
Seeing kids play, laugh and enjoy themselves in itself is uplifting when done appropriately, but they just run riot these days and spoil other peoples enjoyment. I'll always opt for adult only sites if I can, not because I hate kids, but because I hate the loutish behaviour they exhibit these days and the total lack of control modern parents seem to want to exercise, I and my partner would have read the riot act to my stepson if he'd been that unruly and annoyed people when he was a child, thankfully he was inherently more considerate on most occasions and it was never necessary to do more than point out he was annoying someone on the odd occasion he did err to stop it continuing.
We don’t all have the luxury of choice. If we limited ourselves to Adults Only sites, we’d never come to parts of Scotland that we love visiting. I’ve just checked & there is not one Adults Only site within a 50 miles radius of Oban, where we’re off to next week.
I have been to the adult only part of BlackBerry Wood at Ditchling and really enjoyed it. It won’t suit many people though, tents only, no EHU, take your stuff to your pitch by wheelbarrow.
I was on a family site over the bank hol, a very small ‘off grid’ site and it was fine. Happy excited children, parents who observed the 10pm noise curfew and put them all to bed. It was a site with a communal fire pit in the middle that promoted a friendly, mutually considerate vibe.
My main concern now about sites with kids is bubbles, bubble machines, giant bubble wands near my new canvas tent, and this will influence my choice of site and dates.
DK this is a much recommended adult-only site that I have driven past many times that may suit your requirements (haven’t looked up cost) and is in a lovely part of the world (North Norfolk) http://www.foxhillscamping.co.uk

We like adults only sites too, but wherever we go we always avoid school holidays and bank holidays. If the weather is great over a bank holiday you will find us lounging in our back garden, where there are no crowds and we are unlikely to get disturbed. No grossly inflated prices either! Few sites are ever as quiet as where we live, and the loudest thing normally is the birds which we love to hear. I realise that not everyone is that lucky though.

Thanks for the recommendation; looks nice, however, no showers though, still doable as I have my own onboard facilities.

Edited to say they offer a single person discount, what's not to like?!

I belong a couple of camping Facebook pages. I mentioned about bubbles and I was the devil incarnate not wanting kiddies to have a good time. I was also talking rubbish and of course bubbles don't damage the water proofing on tents, that was ridiculous. Well, I tried, I guess they'll have to learn for themselves. Fortunately not many bubbles when you go adult only.

Sadly I have just discovered that one of my favourite adults-only sites (Westfields Camping Site) in West Norfolk is closing at the end of this month. I only found out because I enquired about making a booking in July.
A day of all things motorhome and campervan. The show is held both in the main indoor arena and across the grounds. Catering, hot drinks and food options are available. Easy access to the site and free parking included. Win one of five pairs of day tickets
