Morning All,

First post, and straight away I'm asking for help. (sorry)

Short story, I have a caravan pitch booked for the 23rd of May - 31st May, but we can no longer use it, spoke to the site and unfortunately we cannot get it refunded, or carry it over. Which Im okay with, totally understand the reasoning, no issue there.

My question to you all is are there some good places to try and sell the pitch? The campsite are ok with that and its a quick email over to them with the new details.

Not had to do this before so a little lost as to where I could potentially advertise. Also Apologies in advance if this is not allowed or is in the wrong place. Please don't shoot me! Genuinely looking for some sound advice.

Hope someone can advise, as I have never heard of this. Usually sites will allow you to carry your booking over, so long as they have space.

Never heard of anyone re-selling a pitch via any 3rd party agent! - so can't help I'm afraid.

Cancellation terms are down to the site, but often they will at least partly refund if they can re-let the slot. Quite surprised they are happy to have it sold via a 3rd party!

We are out of the 6 week window, hence the non refund, but were happy for us to sell to a friend or family member. Which I guess is a win.

I can only think of using the UKCS's Free Adverts facility to try and sell your pitch.

I would also suggest using social media such as FB Market Place to see it.

IMHO, it is generous (and unusual) for the campsite to allow for your booking to be transferred to someone else!

We have in the past given a short booking to a friend to use, but more usually we ask to carry the booking forward to a later date & there’s never been a problem.
It’s an interesting point - if you exchange your booking for money then is the buyer’s contract with you, not the site? Just wondering.

My wife has popped this up on some FB market places, so looks like we are on the right track. I thought I would just have a try on here and see if there was somewhere more obvious that I hadnt thought of.

Ref your point Fiona. The campsite would update the booking with the Friends details so I would think the contract would then be with the site as it would be there Reg and contact details on the booking info when they arrive. But a valid point raised.
