There is a CL, Viewforth, off the B6278 about a mile north of the town, and The Old Amoury CS at Bowes, 4 miles west. Which to choose? Yes, I know there is also a Club site. Good reviews from both.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Both clubs have sites, quite near each other. We had memorably bad experiences with the managers of both, but a long time ago & they’ll have moved on.
You could maybe walk into town from the nearer CL? Albeit we were in a small MH, parking in town wasn’t easy.
Thanks Fiona, I think we will probably stay at the Old Armoury at Bowes. Easy access, no towing through the town. Found out that they charge £24 per night with EHU and £18 without which is taking the proverbial, but needs must. We stayed at the C&CC site many years ago, before we knew about small sites.
Amazing family weekend with old steam engines, classic car displays, market stalls, and full catering and bar. And camping on site - Save £25 by booking in advance.
