if you dont fancy travelling far or a short weekend break, Minnows CC site up at Sampford Peverell backs right onto the Grand Western Canal (I live about 3 miles from it).  You can walk into Sampford Peverell along the canal path to 2 pubs and there is a golf driving range and farm shop within walking distance.

The only thing I would add is im not sure about road noise at this site as its very close the the dual carriageway, but plenty of walks in either direction on the canal path.

Hiya, any Exeter campsites will give you easy access to the canal at Countess Wear near Marsh Barton.  Some lovely walks and great kayaking, also Exeter Quay into the country park and towards Topsham.

Chirk CC site is also just 5 mins walk from the canal and there are a number of pubs in the village easy walking distance from the site. You can walk down to the pontcysyllth aquaduct which is a wonderful sight and there are barge trips over it.

Can recommend the Chirk Tandoori at the very end of the road coming down from the site, we were there last weekend and had a lovely Indian meal there on the Sunday night.

The aqueduct Ray mentions is not the one near to the site though, that one is quite a long walk along the canal. We did that last week Saturday, took us about 1.5 hours, and we are not slow walkers! A lovely walk along the canal though, and the aqueduct itself is fantastic to walk over and look down from.
The one near the site is just called Chirk aqueduct, just down from it is a fairly long tunnel which you can walk through too, torch recommended!

Hiya Sharon,

We have stayed at the Minnows and Wolverley, they are both nice dog friendly sites with everything you will need.........dog walking on the canal and a dog friendly pub nearby!

So that covers all the bases for you, highly recommend them both.

Wigrams at Napton (between Rugby and Warwick) is on the junction of the Grand Union and the Oxford canals, and there is a marina behind the site. Locally there is the Bridge Inn which does good meals and I believe you can walk along the canal to it but haven't actually done this.

It is a basic site but has a toilet and shower and CDP.  And the views are fantastic!

Not far from the one mentioned above is Holt farm at Southam. They have their own stretch of the canal for moorings etc and its about a ten minute walk to the nearest pub if you are a capable walker, apart from stops to open the canal gates for folks heading down the water, even got a lift from one of them! (-; A great way to travel!
