Akernow, is the site you are thinking of Whitefield Forest? We went to look at this one whilst at Nodes Point in September and it is a really lovely site - great facilities and well laid out, and plenty of lovely walks arouind the site. We have decided to try it next year. They also do a great deal for over 50s.
Might see you there!
Nice to hear that!, just booked for 3 weeks there in the summer after reading some of the reviews on here.
We were undecided between Whitefield forest, Old Barn or southlands but finally chose Whitefield forest.
Don't forget to leave a review of the campsites you have visited this year or last!
Haven't been to Old Barn but Southlands is a lovely site too - unfortunately for us it seems to have been taken over by the Caravan Club now so is not an option for us as we have a folding camper.
Whitefield Forest is quite a short drive from the Ferry Terminal at Fishbourne and we had a good look round at the invitation of a very friendly couple running reception. The toilet block was immaculate, site was well laid out with both grass and hardstandings. There were some pitches on the lower level near to the Reception area and some higher up more into the wooded area.
Oh, and whilst we were looking around, we saw red squirrels running amongst the trees!
Whitefield Forest is lovely, we had our second year there this year and have already booked for next year. We have to go during the school holidays due to work commitments and, so far, have never had to wait for a shower or found them dirty. The pitches are huge and the owners dont mind how much you put onto them. Water and waste facilities are plentifull and the site itself is well sheltered from the winds that can blow round the Island at times. There are lots of dog walks straight off of the site without going anywhere near a road. There isnt a shop on site but there is a huge Tesco just down the road. The only thing I can find to say against it is that the lighting is very low level and maybe a seat in the shower cubicle would be nice.
Oh and dont forget to take peanuts for the red squirrels.

Yes we will be there during the school holidays in the summer as we both work in education so are stuck with school holidays.
We have booked a hard standing pitch [number 61] as you can never tell what the weather is going to be like. It sounds as if we have picked the right site for our dog as he likes plenty of walks and enjoys chasing the odd squirrel, never manages to catch any.
Really looking forward to getting there now, thanks for the info everyone.

We took our 9 year old grand daughter to Whitefield Forest at the end of the school summer holidays this year. It was nice & quiet & the site was great although I agree that a seat in the shower cubicles would be helpful. We hope to take her again next year.
